Pot Luck for Shanitique!
God writes the best stories!

Several years ago, Shanitique Gaston was serving in the military at Fort Benning, and was met by fellow soldier Grace Tracy.  Grace shared her faith with Shanitique, and Shanitique began to attend church meetings, and study the Bible. She built a relationship with several of the sisters.  But she didn't respond to the gospel at that time.  She was transferred to Washington.

At the end of her assignment, Shanitique was posted back to Fort Benning. Her heart was softened and ready. Grace was now at another duty station, but Shanitique was able to connect with Misha Aldridge and Christina Valeary, who had also been met by Grace and became part of the church.

Shanitique studied the Bible and was baptized on November 11, 2018.  A short time later, she gave birth to a precious son, Tristan.

Shanitique has been a true light at the ATCC.  She faithfully attends all of the services and events. She loves the scripture and is known for her thoughtful and deep comments.  Despite a difficult past, she is joyful, caring, loyal, and spunky, fighting hard to make good choices and live a righteous life.

One of the choices that Shanitique has recently made is to exit serving full time in the military so that she will have more time with her son. The military has granted her request, and she will move to New York next week for the next chapter of her life.

On November 11, exactly one year from her baptism, we will have a special pot luck gathering for Shantique to love up on her.  Please make plans to come to Christina Valeary's house in Columbus on Monday at 12.  Bring something to contribute to the lunch.  (Ask Misha or Kat for food assignments.)  Our prayers will be with this special sister, and we are truly grateful to have been a part of her story!!
Coming Up
This coming Sunday, Travis Hawkins is bringing a group from the Bridgepoint Church to worship with us.  We look foward to seeing him, and to great fellowship!!  (Photo of Travis speaking to a  Bridgepoint group.)
Jack Frederick plans to be in town this coming Wednesday, Nov. 13, to train the married/mature group.  Chances are that he will also be available for time with those who would like to make an appointment with him.
Next Friday, Nov. 15, Beverly Pratt has invitied us all to come to an outdoor dinner and concert at University Station.  The 6 PM dinner for $10 a plate will be catered by a local restaurant.  The concert at 7 PM will feature "20 Ride," a Zac Brown tribute band. After the concert there will be fireworks!!!  This is a great chance to hang out!
Can you contribute new stocking hats and socks?  For our Christmas service project, we are collecting warm hats and socks for the 50 residents of the Magnolia Haven Nursing Home in Tuskegee.  As the elderly are prone to get chilled in the winter, the management of Magnolia Haven says that these items will be the most needed and appreciated gifts.  Bring your contributions any Sunday, and give them to Kenonia Battle.
