Dear Port Fairy Folk Festival Friend,

The Guitarists is one of the festival’s most loved themed concerts. Proudly presented in partnership with Maton Guitars and hosted by Nick Charles and Pat Evans, the 2020 concert will be a stellar showcase of some of the worlds best players of this mighty instrument. We are delighted to announce leading Australian artists Daniel ChampagneJeff Lang and Leisha Jungalwalla (This Way North) will be joined by international guests John Smith (ENG) who has been hailed as representing the "future of Folk Music" by John Renbourn. His style is steeped in the lineage of British folk, taking cues from Richard Thompson and John Martyn and is a transatlantic blend of fingerstyle and slide guitar. The Sunday Times calls him "The Guitarist’s Guitarist", Tony McManus (CAN), who is no stranger to the festival, and never fails to strike awe with his mastery of Celtic Guitar and Will Kimbrough (USA) whose accolades include the Americana Music Association’s Instrumentalist of Year, his prowess is renowned across the world. We can only imagine the magic that will be on display when these artists join forces on Saturday at the Festival, and then of course perform a series of magnificent concerts throughout the weekend.

The Festival is all about friendships as well as great music, and our dear friends at Maton know that our audience are not only lovers of music, but players. So for 2020 all ticket holders are in the mix to win The new Maton S808 which is a delightful addition to the well established and much loved Maton 808 range.

This guitar produces a tone that is a complete surprise given the small size of its body. Scalloped bracing and a 95mm soundhole combine to make the Sitka spruce top super responsive across all frequencies. The solid Qld Maple back and sides provide a crisp, clear character to the tone, and the full depth of the 808 body provides a deep, clean bass response. An Ovangkol fingerboard and bridge add presence to the treble frequencies making this guitar ideal for fingerstyles or more intricate flat picking styles.

To go in the mix to be the lucky owner of this great guitar, simply answer this question and email it along with your ticket number to matonguitars@portfairyfolkfestival.com
