Drama Club Update of November 11, 2019
Dear Families of Drama Club Members,
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for this upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12 and 13, when Drama Club will meet from noon to 3:00 pm. Since the school day for the children is only a half day, this allows Drama Club to take advantage of these days for complete run throughs of the play. Kindly pack a lunch for your child. After lunch, the children will participate in a regular length recess period. Following this, Drama Club will begin. Thank you for your support!
Last Wednesday's Meetings
Drama Club started with a special prayer for one of our members, Jaxon Hudson, who is seriously ill in the hospital. Please pray for Jaxon’s speedy recovery with your family.
Yesterday was the first day that our young dramatists worked with microphones. Children with speaking lines wore headset mics which were tested for volume. We also rehearsed scenes in which the littlest angel gets in trouble for swinging on the heavenly gates and unsuccessfully tries to fly. Alyssa Hudson won the Drama Student of the Week Award for her excellent behavior and positive participation.
Next, it was time for parents to have a meeting to discuss the play sets and costumes. Many thanks to Mrs. Kari Edwards, Mrs. Emily Barnes, and Mrs. Tricia Bear who brainstormed with the directors how to make the “heavenly” sets come alive. The group also made suggestions about how to help parents more easily get the angel choir robes for the children. Rather than have parents individually purchase the choir robes from Oriental Trading which incurs a shipping fee, the group suggested a group order be placed. If you have not already bought your child’s angel choir robe, you might want to take advantage of the group order. Please see the form at the end of this letter regarding ordering your child’s choir robe.
More About Costumes
Just a reminder: all members with speaking roles will wear white choir robes, while members without speaking parts will wear red choir robes. The children also need angel wings and a halo. These can be individually made or purchased. You might want to check out a youtube video on how to make angel wings using poster board and coffee filters. Memorization
At our practice this Wednesday, it became clear that many of the students still have not mastered their lines. Please take some time from your busy family schedules and work with your children to help them learn their lines.

To facilitate parents ordering angel choir robes, the school will place a group order for robes from Oriental Trading. If you would like to take advantage of the group order, please complete the form below and e-mail it to Mrs. Hammang at Phyllis.hammang@gmail.com or send a paper copy of it to school with your children. The order will be sent out by next Wednesday, November 13. For sizing purposes, kindly view the Oriental Trading website at:
Click on the section that says “Sizing Chart.” Most of the robes cost $9.99, but the sizing chart should indicate it there are additional costs associated with larger adult sizes.
Don’t worry about paying for robes now. Payment will be due when the robes arrive.
