A Neighbor, Joe Tuchmayer, emailed to share this information with the community:
Friday evening around 8:10 p.m.there was a fire in the long vacant property on the NorthWest Corner of Laurel Canyon and Lookout; some call it the "Houdini Mansion".  From the fire department reports, it was a fire in garbage from what appeared to be a homeless encampment.  To the credit of our fire department, many different engine companies, including our own Engine Company 97, responded and three helicopters were immediately dispatched to provide "just in case" support.  Thankfully the fire was contained to a small area, but this should be a reminder, if not a wake up call, to all of us in Laurel Canyon as to the major threat we face from wildfires from many different sources.
Thank you!

Home-Sharing Ordinance

Appendix A of the Home-Sharing Ordinance passed City Council, and the enforcement period has begun.

What does this mean for us? In a nutshell, we have more tools to deal with nuisance properties.  Continued vigilance in reporting is going to be necessary in dealing with nuisance properties.

If a loud party (or other nuisance activity) occurs at an Airbnb in your area, now you can call the hotline at (213) 267-7788 in addition to the normal calls to the LAPD.  Please report any call you make to us, and what the result of these calls were.
