Minute/Year: Four Years is a presentation of a visual and sonic archive of the first four years of the ongoing process-based installation Minute/Year.

Minute/Year: Four Years will present one thousand, four hundred and twenty-seven spectrogram images — one for every day since 1. January, 2016. These images form an archive of all the recordings created by the Minute/Year installation to date, and will be presented as three parallel video projections (one each for 2016, 2017, and 2018), alongside a colossal, wall-sized grid-collage of all images from the current year. It is the first time that the complete record of this work will be shown in a single space.

Minute/Year is a sound-based artwork, which began almost four years ago on 1. January, 2016. The work has generated compelling sounds and images, for one minute each day, ever since, in an accumulating, serial process. The Minute/Year installation is itself also running in grüntaler9 at present, until the end of 2019.

Minute/Year: Four Years will display the archive created by the Minute/Year installation in a single space, aiming to mediate and contextualise this accumulating index of recordings, each one of which is a unique moment in time captured in digital amber. These traces, presented as a comprehensive record, offer a perspective on this ongoing project, as it continues, day by day, creating its layers.

Our other news is that we will be participating in the PARSE conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, next week, presenting a three-channel video installation also derived from the archive of Minute/Year, and leading a discussion about self-surveillance, human vestiges, and sound as memory.
