Caring for One Another's Mental Wellbeing

Monday 18th November 7:30pm - 9:30pm, Old Palace, Worcester
Wednesday 20th November 10:30am - 12:30pm, St Francis Church, Dudley

This workshop offers a mix of hints and tips, a chance to share and reflect on our own experience. It will also showcase a number of different resources and guides for use with children's and youth groups.

Who’s it for?
Anyone in our parishes, lay or ordained.

When we carry out Jesus’ command “to love our neighbour as ourselves”, we all know ways of offering emotional and practical support to people who have physical illnesses. When it comes to issues of mental health, our own and others, we are often very uncertain where to start, what to do and how to help. This workshop, which will have input from Doug Chaplin, Simon Hill and Emma Pettifer among others, offers a mix of hints and tips, a chance to share and reflect on our own experience, and signposting to where help and training is available.

Head Strong Journal

Thinking. Talking. Doing. Moving. Eating. Resting.

These are the six areas that Head Strong explores, each of which relates to healthy state of mental and emotional wellbeing. This journal will take you on a journey by talking you through each area and how it relates to your mental and emotional health, as well as suggesting loads of fun, creative and reflective activities that can help you grow in those areas. The journal shows how these different parts of our lives can affect and impact each other, and how caring for each of them makes a vital difference. It provides a holistic look at what caring for our wellbeing means, and how we can do that in simple ways.

The journal is full of quotes, games, activities, reflections and different creative ideas that relate to day-to-day life, and help keep young people headstrong.

Shuffle: Mindset

Want to develop a healthy mindset?

Shuffle is a card-based activity – a challenge to take on for up to six weeks. The Mindset Edition will help you to inject some activities into everyday life to reinforce your mental health and increase your wellbeing.

For six weeks, you’re invited to pick and ‘play’ one card each day, discarding the cards from the deck as you complete them. Each card includes two important things; an inspirational quote, based on ancient wisdom, and a challenge for the day. Each day you can decide if you want to do that day’s challenge, or try something different. If you’re up for it, take on the challenge, and allow yourself to have a little adventure today. If not, just put it back in the pack, shuffle, and then try a different card.

That’s it. See if you can work your way through all 42 cards, and notice what happens to your mindset as a result.
