October 2019 Digest

Reaching the Unreached with Health Services & Information
We are impacting lives globally and locally because #CSICares.
Dear CSI Friends, Partners, and Donors:

October was an incredible step into Quarter IV–opening a new office in downtown Baltimore, celebrating girls on International Day of the Girl Child, maximizing a generous donation from Quarter Fund Members with Longmont Community Foundation to expand on existing and successful programs for young women in Uganda, and planning for added impact in 2020. From the leadership level, I am proud of CSI in-country teams for their commitment to advance successful public health programs in underserved communities, saving and impacting more lives with every outreach and community engagement. During the month of October, teams in Uganda and Tanzania were at the frontlines with local leaders and health facilities to facilitate improved quality, access, and delivery of services for women and girls at the grassroots level; where there's greater need for basic and fundamental health services. Enjoy reading additional updates in CSI's October Digest and remember your generous donation drives #CSIImpactingLives mission. #CSICares

Sincerely,
Bhim Bahadur BK, M.Ed
Chief Executive Officer
Message from CSI Board Member: Amri Ngoye, President, Alpha Home Care Services LLC
"With CSI's commitment to reach the unreached with health services, resources, and information, we are excited to have Bhim Bahadur BK on our executive leadership team serving as CSI's CEO. Bhim brought with him invaluable talent, vision, and a dynamic network of donors and partners to strengthen CSI's mission and vision. I am confident Bhim will advance a lot of the work that Tausi Suedi, former CEO, played a critical role in leading and grounding since 2013. CSI is in a good position to sustain impact and transform lives; I trust Bhim will carry the torch." — Amri Ngoye, President, Alpha Home Care Services LLC.
CSI Tanzania: 2019 International Day of the Girl Child
On 2019 International Day of the Girl, CSI Tanzania conducted its monthly program, Girl Talk, Girl Power, addressing cultural, social, economical barriers adolescent girls are experiencing including lack of basic feminine hygiene products, clean water, and washroom facilities. Since 2014, in collaboration with JMK Park in Dar es Salaam, at least 6,000 girls (12-19 yo) have benefited from CSI's program intended to change the trajectory for girls who're often denied opportunities to live to their full potential and reduce school dropouts due to menstrual health and hygiene challenges.
Donor Highlight: Quarter Fund Members Impact ~ 200 Young Women in Ndejje, Wakiso District, Uganda
Travel on a dirt road a few miles off of Entebbe Road in Wakiso District, Uganda, there's a school, Lubugumu Jamia High School, that has always sought reproductive health sessions and services for their young women. With funding from Quarter Fund Members with Longmont Community Foundation in Colorado, Childbirth Survival International Uganda was able to respond to the call. The CSI Uganda team of a veteran nurse-midwife, program officers, and community liaisons in collaboration with the school, facilitated CSI's Girl Talk, Girl Power program covering sexual health, reproductive health, menstrual hygiene and management, teenage pregnancies, and creating a safe space for girls to share their personal experiences. Approximately 200 young women were impacted from this program; made possible by Quarter Fund Members, as shared in the video below.
