WESSON IS THE TOP CHOICE OF CULVER CITY LEADERS
Nine Culver City Leaders Endorse Herb Wesson for LA County Supervisor
Los Angeles, CA – Joining local elected officials from all over the 2nd district, including Carson, Compton, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Los Angeles, and Lynwood, today, nine Culver City representatives endorsed Herb Wesson for LA County Supervisor. This list includes: Vice Mayor Goran Eriksson, Councilmember Thomas Smalls, School Board Member and Immediate Past Board President Anne Allaire, former School Board President Marla Wolkowitz, former School Board President Julie Lugo Cerra and former mayors Ed Wolkowitz, Scott Malsin, Michael “Mehaul” O’Leary, and Jeff Cooper. Wesson currently serves as the LA City Council President and is running to replace termed-out LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas in next year’s open election.

In response, LA City Council President Herb Wesson released the following statement:

“I am honored to have the support of my esteemed Culver City colleagues. Fabian and I raised our family here and to have the support of these dedicated Culver City local leaders means so much to me. I am proud to share their commitment to expanding access to the middle class, solving the housing crisis, and keeping our families and children safe."
For the last 30+ years, Herb Wesson has fought alongside community leaders and grassroots advocates to improve the lives of all Angelenos, as Chief of Staff to legendary LA County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, the 65th Speaker of the California State Assembly, the 1st African American President of the Los Angeles City Council and as a youth coach, mentor and father.

During his tenure as Council President, Wesson has presided over monumental policy initiatives that have made Los Angeles a better place to live, work and raise a family. These initiatives — which include raising the minimum wage, pension reform and consolidating city elections to increase voter turnout — have not only positively impacted local residents, but in many cases, sparked legislative responses at both the state and national level.

While real progress has been made in the last decade, Herb Wesson knows that there’s still more work to be done. That’s why he’s running for Los Angeles County Supervisor: to empower people and make a difference in the lives of local residents.

Herb Wesson currently lives in Los Angeles and is happily married to Fabian Wesson. They have four sons: Douglas, P.J. Herb III, and Justin Wesson.
