Today is Human Rights Day!
(10 December 2019)

'We celebrate the role of young people in bringing human rights to life... On this international day, I call on everyone to support and protect young people who are standing up for human rights.' - António Guterres, UN Secretary-General
Human Rights Day commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which proclaims the inherent rights of all people. This year's theme is 'Youth Standing Up for Human Rights'. We support young people calling for action on climate change and believe young people should be at the centre of and have a voice in all policy discussions.

UNDP Asia Pacific: Australia Week
(9-14 December 2019)

Australia Week focuses on Australia's commitment as a partner in the UN Development Programme's (UNDP) mission to end extreme poverty, reduce inequality, build resilience and achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Australia’s significant investments in UNDP’s work in the Asia Pacific region illustrate the strong alignment between the UNDP’s work and Australia’s priorities for the region. Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA): Sustainable Development Goals Roundtable

Recently 20 library leaders gathered at ALIA House in Canberra to discuss stretch targets for the sector as part of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This was the next step in libraries’ commitment to the SDGs in Australia and Asia-Pacific. ALIA has produced a draft stretch targets and is seeking feedback through this surveyRead more on ALIA and the SDGs here.
