Hi <<First Name>>,
Are you rushing around?
It’s been a particularly busy time for me just recently.
I’ve had a 2 day trip to Suffolk, a family wedding and a 70th birthday party - and still had to fit in my usual coaching commitments.
At times like these there’s always a risk that something will slip. Below I include some helpful hints to make sure it doesn’t.

Time for some cashflow magic
The one thing that most businesses struggle with at some point is money.
Many of us find money the most difficult aspect of running a business.
It’s not just the difficulty of making money from the business.
It’s also managing our finances.
So this week I’d like to share another great blog from one of our Business Blogging graduates.
Alex Hughes offers us: 10 Tips for improving your Cashflow.
Number 6 is my favourite for avoiding problems with your customers!

Is your house in order?
There are so many aspects to running a business.
As well as giving excellent advice on cash flow (see above), Alex Hughes is an expert on administration.
She’s great at helping you get your business affairs in order.
I so enjoyed collaborating on my last workshop that I’m doing it again.
Alex and I are working together to develop a 'business housekeeping' workshop.
We’ll be covering lots of things designed to help you get (and keep) your business house in order, including:
- Filing systems
- Finances
- Healthy working
- Insurances
- Business calendar
- Delegating
Let me know if you’re interested, and tell me about any other topics you’d like us to cover.

Who's doing the work?
Last week I did some mentor training.
During the session there was one message that came across loud and clear.
“Don't forget who’s in charge."
It’s not the mentor’s job to drive the mentoring.
It’s the mentee’s responsibility.
They are responsible for asking for the help they need.
And they are responsible for carrying out the actions that have been agreed.
It occurred to me there are parallels for some of us in our work.
For example:
It’s not my job to drive the coaching.
It’s the client's responsibility.
My clients are responsible for telling me what they need from me.
Who’s in charge in your customer relationships?

5 Top tips to avoid those slips!
As I said above, when you’re really busy, it’s easy to let something slip.
So here are five ideas to help you keep everything under control:
1. Draw up a ’to do’ list of everything you can think of.
Don't leave anything off it, however trivial. It may make for a daunting list but at least it’s on paper / your screen and not running around in your head.
Then:
2. Remember the four Ds:
Do, Defer, Delegate, Delete
If a task is neither urgent nor important, it probably doesn’t need doing, so defer or even better delete it.
3. Block time in your diary for “MUST DO” tasks
Treat really important tasks like a meeting, and protect the time to do them.
4. Pick ONE thing each evening that must be done the next day
Then do it first.
5. Be realistic about how long things will take.
Don't try to be a hero. It will only end in tears!
