Giving Tuesday is Here! Please Show Your Support for the CMC.                      View this email in your browser
Today is GIVING TUESDAY and we ask that you show your support for the CMC with a contribution to the club.
The many of you who regularly read our emails, follow our club and join us for events know the work of the CMC and the love of the Catskills that motivates us every day.  We are working to offer outdoor recreational opportunities, keeping you informed and engaged with what's happening here in the Catskills, putting our energies into stewardship projects that protect our pristine parklands,  building and maintaining recreational infrastructure including new trails in partnership with the NYCDEP and lending our support to our local communities by helping them realize the health and economic benefits that living in the Catskills  provide.
Among our signature projects are:
1.  The annual Catskills Lark in the Park with its dozens of events that highlight outdoor recreational opportunities, environmental and outdoor skills education, and history and culture in the Catskills region.
2.  Working with the NYCDEP to put hiking trails on select parcels owned by them and working with other community organizations to build trails at other outstanding locations.  We built the first trail on DEP property in the Catskills and have now built six new trails since 2012. See the pictures in this email, including several from our soon to be opened Ashokan Quarry Trail.
3.  We are in the early stages of restoring the Bramley Mountain Fire Tower to its rightful place overlooking the mountains and valleys of the western Catskills.
4.  Working in community based umbrella organizations like the Catskill Park Coalition and the Catskill Park Advisory Committee. Together we bring state funding to the Catskills that supports the Catskill Park and its communities and we work with the government agencies that manage the Park and the watershed to address areas of concern to improve the recreational and quality of life experiences of visitors and residents in the Catskills.
5. We began the Catskills All Trails Challenge program several years ago with the goal of introducing the hiking public to the entire Catskill Park.  Anyone who hikes all of the almost 350 miles of designated trails receives an embroidered patch, a t-shirt listing the trails and a numbered certificate. As many those who have finished say, the greatest reward is getting to know the charms of the Park, whether they be the summits, views, ponds, streams, waterfalls and trails, well known or not, or the trees, wildflowers and wildlife that occupy them.  The All Trails Challenge is a must for those who truly want to know the Catskills!
Please take a minute to make a donation and help us continue our work. Thank you.
