Rector's Reflection
* "If the only prayer you say in your whole life is thank you, that would suffice."
Meister Eckhart

Dear ones,

Giving thanks for each of you, your presence, faith, laughter, leadership and love and wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!

To those of you going home to your families this Thanksgiving – enjoy your families; and those spending the day alone – may blessings find you in your
solitude.

With love and gratitude,

Kristen

First Sunday Youth Service- December 1
The first Sunday of every month, the service of Holy Eucharist at 10 am will be led almost entirely by the youth of the parish. We will be recruiting for youth acolytes, lectors & ushers. In lieu of Sunday School, children will remain for the entire service and the homily will be a children's homily. If you have young people in your midst who would like to help lead the First Sunday service, please contact Kristen!
Celebrating Saint Nicholas
Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of children, sailors, and those in need. His life of generosity and benevolence is thought to be the origin of the Santa Claus story widely recognized today. St. Nicholas Day is traditionally celebrated on December 6th, and our parish will have a visit from St. Nicholas following the 10 AM service on December 8th during the sandwich making for So Others Might Eat. Learning about this man who is thought to be the "true" Santa Claus is a fun and meaningful way to kick off the advent season with your family.  Lots more information about St. Nicholas as well as any wonderful crafts, games,  and activities can be found at stnicholascenter.org.
Winter Clothing Donations
St. David's parish has supported Friendship Place (FP) to promote housing and provide essentials for those in need in our community. FP and Washington Hebrew Congregation are partnering once again this year to collect and distribute winter clothing. Please consider donating your new or gently used winter essentials in “dignity condition” to the Washington Hebrew Congregation (3935 Macomb Street, NW). Click here for more info, including drop-off times.

Advent Wreaths, Carols & Cider
Please join us after the 10am service on the First Sunday of Advent, Dec. 1st, in making beautiful and fresh Advent Wreaths for your home.  Mulled cider and carols will add to the festivities! Each family will be asked to donate $20 towards the cost of their wreath - please email Joel at joel@stdavidsdc.org or call the office if you plan on joining us, so that we can have enough materials.
Outreach Sandwich Making
Please join us on Sunday, Dec. 8, after the 10 am service for our next sandwich making Sunday. This is an activity that is suitable for families with children. If you haven’t tried helping to make 1000 sandwiches in 45 minutes, you are missing out on a lot of camaraderie and fun!
Angel Tree Coming Soon
It is our tradition at St. David’s to place an Advent Giving Tree and our generosity at the heart of our holiday decorating and worship. Our Advent giving supports three of our mission partners: the Honduras Independence Bilingual School (HIBS), Friendship Place (FP), and the Bishop Walker School (BWS). This year gifts will also benefit a local Title 1 School in Montgomery County, MD. In all of these ministries, our financial contributions directly support efforts to make life better for the most vulnerable. Please take an ornament and fulfill its request. Checks should be made out to St. David’s with either HIBS, BWS, or FP in the memo line. Return the ornament and your check to Joel Wood, Parish Administrator. Also, please purchase warm men’s socks to place on the tree for the clients of Friendship Place.
