Don't even contemplate hibernation yet
As temps go down, SPI heats up!
In the lead-up to Thanksgiving, SPI staff found creative ways to teach visitors about that second lightest element - Helium - that looms so large in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. They also demonstrated for families how to make "Gobble Wobblers" and set up a data wall to help familiarize kids with charts and graphs (through the act of voting for their favorite Thanksgiving dish). Our team is regularly rotating the set-ups at what we call our Periodic Tables - those models and prompts throughout our space which serve as timely invitations for families to play together or learn more.
All this fall fun after a very busy summer season in which SPI served over 2000 people though its various camp and community engagement initiatives! Including the introduction of a new "STEAM Team" pilot program for teens.
SPI staff members discuss and work on ways to continuously improve our efforts. We know we can benefit from hearing your ideas and opinions, too!
In this edition, we:
- share some information about upcoming programming;
- invite you to share your observations via a user survey designed in alignment with "best practices" for interactive children's museums; and
- ask you to consider SPI in your year-end charitable giving AND your holiday gift giving.
Thank you for your continued patronage, financial support, and collaboration!
