PK Newsletter - December 5, 2019
Joining Jesus On His Mission

This week in PK4 the students began to explore the Nativity set toys in our room. As they were playing Mrs. Finnegan overheard Anna Schuenke praying on behalf of Jesus' mother, Mary. Anna thanked God for many of the things we see at Christmas including Christmas trees and ornaments. She had also surrounded Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus with people who had come to give "thanks." How wonderful to share the Good News of Jesus with others!

PK Christmas Program
Our PK classes will present their Christmas program, "Let's Dress Up for Christmas", on Sunday, December 8th during the 10:30am worship service.

Christian Day School Christmas Program
Our Kindergarten - 8th grade classes will present their Christmas program, "Away in a Mango", on Sunday, December 8th at 4pm.

Both services will be live-streamed on Facebook (go to https://www.facebook.com/ORLCSDelavan), and we will also have DVDs available to order for both the PK & CDS Christmas Worship Services. DVDs are $11 each - contact the school or church office to place your order. We will take orders through Friday, January 10th.

ATTENTION PARENTS! Doors will open at 3:30pm. Your child is allowed down to their classrooms at that time. Mrs. Penniman is asking all bell choir students (grades 5-8), band students (grades 6-8), and costumed characters to arrive at 3:00pm. Please enter through the East school door. When dressing your child, please keep in mind that it becomes very warm in the church during our service. We suggest not dressing in layers. School dress code policy does apply. There will be time for pictures afterwards. Please allow Mrs. Penniman to take the yearbook photos of each class first, then parents will be given time to take pictures of their child's class if they wish. Please meet your child in the Fellowship Hall after they have had their yearbook picture taken. Thank you! (Questions? Contact Mrs. Penniman at rpenniman@orlcs.org.)

  • Milk break is optional for 1st-8th grade, and the cost is $35/semester.
If you are unsure if you have paid for the 2nd semester milk break, contact the school office. You can use money in your child(ren)'s hot lunch account to pay for the milk break - if you want to do this, contact the school office so we can make the transfer.

Cold Weather Clothing

It's getting cold! Please make sure that your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the weather, and have winter coats, hats, scarves, mittens, and boots. We go outside for recess every day, unless the weather is just too bad to allow it.

Here is Our Redeemer's recess policy as stated in the school handbook:

When the temperature or wind chill factor is below zero degrees Fahrenheit, no one is allowed outside. This is also true when it is snowing or raining heavily. On those days, Grades One through Four use the Family Life Center during the first half of noon recess; the upper grades use the Family Life Center during the second half of the noon recess. When the temperature and wind chill factor are above zero during the noon recess, all students must go outdoors except those kept in by teachers and those with written excuses from home. When outside, children will not be permitted to play in any snow unless they have waterproof boots; these are to be removed upon reentry into the building.
