Stereoscopic items on Auction at Aston's Auctioneers in Dudley, UK. 28 November 2019 10am.

Auction of 3D equipment & Stereocards

On-Line at Astons Auctions
10am Thursday 28 November 2019

Astons Auctions

There is a specialist photographic auction in Dudley - This Thursday 28 November 2019.  Everything is online to view now or physical viewing at the auction house is tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday 27th) 12 - 4pm and Thursday morning from 8am until the auction starts at 10am.  In this sale out of 461 lots, 20 or so are of interest to stereo enthusiasts - including many lots of stereocards.

You can view the whole auction on Astons Auctions website

Though I find it easier to navigate through the Saleroom website.
once in the listing of lots use the search box top left - not along the top of the screen. Enter 'stereo' and it will filter the results - always double check with a search for '3d' and "stereoscopic" as well.
(If you use the search box across the top of the page it will search all auctions on the Saleroom website which may include lots of stereo hifi systems but equally may find stereo items in other auctions around the country on other dates.)
But it will also turn up some very nice stereoscopes at Flints Auctions on Friday (29th November 2019).

The Astons specialist - "Camera, Photographic Equipment and Images Auction" is organised by society member Tim Goldsmith who can be contacted at Astons with any questions.

Folio Groups Coordinator

Having held the post of Folio Groups Coordinator for over 10 years, Barry Aldous is seeking to step down and make way for any Society member wishing to take up this post to do so. Folio Groups are an important activity within the Society and have been since the Society formed in 1893.

Being a postal Folio Group member is a wonderful way to demonstrate your photographic skills to like minded members and receive constructive comments and advice; the camaraderie between Group members is also significant.

Currently, there are four active Folio Groups with a total of around 50 members, the details of which can be downloaded from the Society website. The Folios cater for those interested in all formats of stereoscopic photography; Slides, Prints, Digital etc. Each Group has it’s own Secretary who is responsible for the administration and circulation of the Folios in their Group.

Barry is an active Folio Group member himself and will assist whoever wishes to adopt the post of Folio Groups Coordinator. In reality, the administrative duties involved are minimal, being of an advisory nature, reporting on the Groups activities and membership status to the Society’s Committee as and when Committee meetings are held.

The post allows for a creative overview of the Groups and the potential for diversity. The efforts of the coordinator are reflected in the production of an annual Show of Group members work presented at the Society’s Annual Convention.

Scotland.

London 11th January 2020
Themed meeting: "Engineering"

The London Meeting on January 11th will be a full festival of 3D AV shows produced by members and organised once again by Mike Hillyard.

As usual, the topic has been chosen in the hope that it will not prove restrictive, rather that it will stimulate creativity in its interpretation. The theme for 2020 is "Engineering". Please feel free to interpret this as broadly or obscurely as you wish.

As in earlier years, the show length can be anything from very short up to around 15 minutes.

.WMV, .AVI, .MP4 files are all fine, but please avoid executable files.

Your AV shows are always hugely appreciated by both the London and Coventry audiences and they will now probably also be seen in Redcar and Bury. Some shows are also likely to be used in the Convention programme as time permits. I am very much aware of the amount of time and effort that goes into the making of these shows and am greatly impressed by the level of complexity and professionalism that some are now achieving.

Please let me know if you think you have or will have a show for the programme. Please send shows in by 20th December at the latest, a lot earlier if possible - if material is available earlier, please do send it!

Looking forward to hearing from you!
All the best,
Mike Hillyard

London Meeting

December 14th 2019:
Host: Geoff Hallett

A non-projection meeting. Please bring images, 3D viewers, 3D computer systems, 3D tablets, anything 3D that you can think of. So far we have offers of SmartPhone 3D from Mary Paul, and 3D VR Flight simulator from Geoff Hallett.

It is the 80th anniversary of the View-Master system, and I am hoping that a member will bring a View-Master camera and projector (yes; I know that originally it was a non-projection meeting, but we would like to celebrate the View-Master anniversary so we will have a small screen available.)
Please bring some View-Master reels if you would like to see them projected.
