Giving thanks to our supporters!

We received a sweet note yesterday that filled our hearts with gratitude.

Peter Rowan purchased a guitar from Preston at Winfield in the 1980's and they remained friends ever since.  When Preston started his shop in Sisters he reached out to Peter to offer him another guitar.  It was a good faith gift because Peter believed in Preston and his artistry.

Earlier this month Peter had hip surgery and is in the process of recovering. Recently he picked up his Thompson D-28 from his friend Larry, who repairs guitars, and was inspired to write these lyrical words.  He said we could share them with you...

"It was a revelation!  Dressed frets, straightened neck, the great action, and the tone! A rich roar with shimmering jangles! I learned to sing behind a guitar like that.  I whanged an E chord and the entire history of bluegrass and country unfolded before my wondering ears.  I paid the man and drove up to Mt. Tamalpais the back way through San Anselmo.  I found my sacred spot high up on Tamalpais and took the guitar out and play in that pristine air high above the blue Pacific shimmering off Stinson beach below.  The mountain sang, the rocks were ringing, the trees were humming, the birds were singing!  All those years of chronic pain were left behind and all the song sketches in my notebook had finished writing themselves! The mountain told me many things and the earth sang it chorales and hymns.  I walked without a cane and felt a forgotten promise had been kept. Faith unbroken welled forth and my soul was healed.  I rejoiced and sang out loud to the crystal air!  I was feeling better! The guitar is exceptional, thank you Preston!"

This is a beautiful tribute to Preston and the legecy of Thompson guitars.

We are thankful Peter is feeling better and the surgery was successful.
He will continue to write songs and be back on the road again soon.

We want to thank all our dealers, artists, custom clients and friends for your support during this very difficult year.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Preston loved talking guitars, music and hearing Peter's stories.   Here is a short interview with Peter a few years after the current Thompson shop was opened.
