Church Office Closures & Impacted Services


In observance of the the Thanksgiving holiday, the church office will be closed as follows:
  • Wednesday, November 27 - office closes at 12 pm
  • Thursday, November 28 - office closed
  • Friday, November 29 - office closed
The following services will not take place this week:
  • Wednesday, 5:30 pm service
  • Thursday, 5:00 pm service
Shepherd's Night Out activities and the Youth group will not take place on Wednesday, November 27.

Advent at Good Shepherd

Intergenerational Advent Formation Hour


Celebrate the beginning of Advent on Sunday, December 1, 9:15 am - 10:15 am in Talbird Hall.  Storytelling, Advent Wreath-Making, Advent Prayer Chain-Making, Special Advent Treats.  Advent Wreath materials are $5 for wreath and candles, $2 for candles only. Please bring some greenery!


Morning Prayer


December 2 - 20, 8:30 - 9:00 am in the chapel.  Join us for Morning Prayer Monday, December 2 through Friday, December 20. If you’d like to help lead Morning Prayer, contact the church office!  No experience or extra prep required. You will read from a prepared Leader bulletin.


Taizé Services


Wednesdays, December 4, 11, and 18, 6:45 pm in the nave. Don’t miss some of the most beautiful and soul-stirring liturgies of the year (includes Eucharist from the reserve). Childcare available for 5 and under in the multipurpose room.
  • Quiet reflection time at 6:30 pm in the narthex
  • No 5:30 pm services during Advent
 

Taizé Shepherd's Night Out


Wednesdays, December 4, 11, 18, 6:00 pm in Talbird Hall.  Each week before the Taizé service in the church, join us for special Shepherd’s Night Out dinners in Talbird Hall. Because these dinners are very popular and usually fill the parish hall, reservations will be required for SNO during Advent. All are welcome! Cost is $10 ages 13-up; $5 ages 3-12; $30 family maximum. Please make your reservations by the Monday preceding SNO. Angel Tree Gifts

 

Gifts due December 6 to the church office. Tags are still available; please stop by the church office if you'd like to donate gifts to children and/or adults.
 

Amani Sale


Sunday, December 8, after 8:00 and 10:30 am services, Talbird Hall.  Amani ya Juu (which means “Peace from Above”) will be here to sell a selection of their products.  Their sales support women in Africa in their quest for peace and reconciliation.
 

Advent Retreat


Monday, December 9, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm in the Library. Resident Good Shepherd affiliated poets Kemmer Anderson, Howard Brown, and Alice Smith will offer Advent poetry for us to reflect upon using the ancient monastic practice of lectio divina.


Advent Luncheon


Monday, December 9, 12:00 am in Talbird Hall.  Delicious food from Jan Robinson, great fellowship, singing by the Good Shepherd School pre-K class, shopping for Amani goods.

 

Parish PJ Breakfast


Sunday, December 15, 9:00 -10:15 am in Talbird Hall.  ajamas and breakfast?? What could be better! Roll out of bed and join your parish family for a delicious breakfast! Pajama-wearing highly encouraged!
 

Christmas Flowers in memory or in honor of your loved ones


You are invited to support the greening of the church for Christmas by making a donation toward the flowers and greenery that makes Good Shepherd so beautiful for the season. Your gift can be given in memory of or in honor of loved ones, whose names will be listed in our Christmas bulletins. Gifts of any amount are welcome or, if you prefer, specific contribution amounts for wreaths and other arrangements are also available. Please call Nicole in the church cffice at 423-821-1583 or email nicole@gslookout.com to make your gift or for more information. You will also find Christmas Flower Offering Envelopes in the pews, in which you can place your gift in the offering plate between now and December 15.
