Auckland & Wellington CID Talk - Cash in the Pacific

Oxfam’s Pacific cash advisor, Sandra Hart will deliver a talk to CID members and friends.

Cash in the Pacific: Examples and Innovations for Humanitarian Action

Cash-Based Approaches in Humanitarian response are all the rage and for good reason.

Cash is quick and inexpensive to move, provides increased choice and dignity to affected populations and helps local markets recover sooner.

Commitments from the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit call on Humanitarians to scale up its use, and that includes in the Pacific.

Sandra Hart is Oxfam’s Pacific regional advisor for Cash-Based Programming and works at the cutting edge of humanitarian response. Sandra has trialled new technologies, such as blockchain, in the Pacific, and has delivered cash-based responses in challenging Pacific contexts, such as the Ambae volcano response in Vanuatu.
