Some 80 Buckhurst Hill residents were treated to a fish and chips lunch and music hall-style entertainment.
The event, organised by Buckhurst Hill Parish Council, was held at Roding Valley Hall, Station Way, on Friday.
Entertainment was provided by members of the Chigwell Row Operatic and Dramatic Society and was followed by tea and cakes, and bingo.
Parish councillor Jane Forker-Clark thanked CROADS and all the volunteers and council staff for their contribution towards making the event such a success.
Buckhurst Hill Parish Council chairman Smruti Patel welcomed everyone to the event which followed a successful pie and mash lunch last year.
She said: "This was the second successive year that the parish council has held this community event in Buckhurst Hill and we hope to put on many more different events in the future."
One resident said: "We are so grateful to the parish council for putting on such a wonderful event for us."
