RURAL EUROPE ON THE MOVE
A travel guide to transitions

Forum Synergies is happy to launch its new book " Rural Europe on the move – A travel guide to transitions ".

In this collective work twelve authors share their personal stories of bringing together local communities, farmers, foresters, environmentalists, and political decision makers so as to facilitate the transition towards a more sustainable and inclusive rural Europe. Together we explore twenty-five years of experiences of Forum Synergies throughout Europe.

From Portugal to Latvia, from Scotland to Romania, from islands to mountain regions, you will discover people and their places, the challenges they face and the solutions they have found, as individuals and as local communities.

At the same time the book is a strong call for the future, upon young people to make their rural regions and communities fit, so that they can respond to the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and social exclusion, making their own rural future more resilient and attractive.

Presentations of the book

European Rural Youth Parliament and European Rural Parliament in Candas, Spain

The 4th European Rural Parliament (6.-9.11.2019) was the first occasion to present the "travel guide to transitions". Together with Goran Soster, who at the same time launched the new PREPARE publication  "Rural Parliaments", Hannes Lorenzen offered a short glimpse into the content of the book, not getting tired of pointing out how important it is to actively shape the future. Examples for that can be found in the book!

 14.11.2019: Fondation de France:
Voix d'Avenir - 50 years anniversary

Forum Synergies was organising a "Market of Initaitives" during the 50 years celebration of Fondation de France in Paris. Short presentations of topics raised in the book, like the one given  by Artur Filipe Gregório about the activities of IN LOCO, a Portuguese organisation active in the Algarve region, like the Mediterranean Diet Route, led to lively discussions about sustainable rural development in a broader context.
