This Weekend at Good Shepherd

Thank You Good Shepherd

Thank you Good Shepherd for your amazing support! As of November 21, our total gifts pledged for 2020 is $1,060,703 from 184 households, and young parishioners have smashed through their $50,000 goal! We’ve almost reached our annual giving goal of $1.3 million! THANK YOU!

If you’ve yet to turn in your pledge for 2020, stop by the church office to fill out a pledge card, or go to http://bit.ly/BetheChurch2019 and complete your pledge online!

Thank you

A heartfelt thank you, Good Shepherd, for who we are, for what we've done, and what we're going to do as the Body of Christ in this place. Thank YOU for being the church!

If you've missed any of our Be the Church videos, you can find the series here.  To watch the video shared this week, click on the triangular play button on the image above.

Rejoice in the Lamb

On Sunday, November 24, at the 10:30 service, Good Shepherd's Adult Choir will present a sung sermon: Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb.  Britten's composition takes lyrics from the 18th-century poem "Jubilate Agno" by Christopher Smart while Smart was confined for insanity (or old debts) at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethnal Green, London.  Britten's composition is glorious and our choir's performance is something you won't want to miss!

East Side Mobile Pantry

East Side's Mobile Pantry this Wednesday was a good hard working day. Good Shepherd volunteers helped load apples, grapes, oranges, plum, pistachios, cans of beans and vegetables, rice, and meats for Thanksgiving - and shared a lot of laughter and smiles in our new Be the Church T-shirts!

Thanks to all the great volunteers: Wendy Robinson. Nancy Driver. Ann Weeks. Tiny Mann. Terry Childers, Ann Allen, Margaret Anne Haley. Julia Jones, Karen Martin, Pete Cooper, Susan Stein and friend Chantal, Robert Childers, Talley Carroll. Marian Steffner, Beth Stout, Janice Robbins, Carolyn Brock, Doug and Joann Wood.

Volunteer Opportunities

Pajama Try-ons at East Side

Each Christmas Blue Cross Blue Shield of Chattanooga generously provides new pajamas for each student at East Side Elementary.  The teachers need help trying the pajamas on each child to make sure they fit.  Try on day is the morning of Tuesday, December 17. If you are available to assist with this task, please email Bena Devaney at davobena5@gmail.com.

Happening in our community, diocese, and around The Episcopal Church

Call for Art for Diocesan Convention

You are invited to collaborate in an art project for the 2020 Diocesan convention illustrating the convention theme: Reconciling All Things in Christ: Broken and Mending.

Participating in God’s Reconciling work acknowledges that we live in a world that is unreconciled, where things are broken and in need of mending.  We are asking artists and photographers from across the diocese to submit an image that illustrates this theme and tell us about how that image exemplifies God’s reconciling work in us and in the world.  How does your parish help to heal the world? Show us!

To learn more and to submit your art by December 1, click here.

Thrive is looking for caregivers

If you believe there is value in every breath breathed and love older adults, you may be a great fit for the team and Thrive at Brow Wood!  To learn more, stop by Thrive on Thursdays at 3:30.  You may also contact Susan Smisson at 706-956-5898 or email, susan.smisson@thriveatbrowwood.com.
