NEWMARKET, November 20, 2019 – The winter holidays are just around the corner. Grab your friends and family members and savour the season and warm your spirits at one of these Town of Newmarket events.
 
Days of Winter Past Gallery
Now until January 11, 2020. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. except for private events or program-related closures.
 
Explore the winter season through the paintings of eight Ontario-based professional artists. Each artist has captured his or her own intimate experience and unique perception of this beautiful and unforgiving season. Curated by Sue Miller and Dave Rheaume.

Gallery of Festive Heritage Trees
Now until December 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
The Elman W. Campbell Museum presents the Gallery of Festive Heritage Trees to celebrate the holiday season. Whether your style is Victorian, Edwardian, or Retro, there's something to inspire everyone!  Free admission (monetary donations are greatly appreciated).

Holiday Craft Workshop
November 23, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Get into the festive spirit and have fun making crafts!

  • DIY Holly Bell Decoration & Gingerbread Stuffed Toys (simple sewing involved with parental assistance)
  • Try playing with old-fashion toys
  • See our display of Gallery of Heritage Trees
  • Enjoy gingerbread treats & light beverage
Suitable for ages 3 to 10 with adult supervision

Winter Wonderland – Frozen Fridays
Every Friday from December 6, to January 3, 2020 from 6 to 9 p.m. 

Winter just got cooler! Join us for a fun, free outdoor winter experience including free outdoor skating on the Tim Hortons Skating and Water Feature, beautiful light display, rides on the Tim Hortons Express Train, DJ music, free hot chocolate and treats and more.

Mitten Tree
December 6 to March 1, 2020
Visit our Mitten Tree throughout Winter Wonderland where residents have the opportunity to donate and/or take what is needed. Donations include new, handmade or store bought hats, mittens, socks and scarves with all remaining items being donated to Inn From the Cold, Belinda’s Place and Blue Door Shelters.

Cocoa and Cookies with Santa
December 7, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Everyone is invited to enjoy an afternoon of hot cocoa, cookies and photo opportunity with Santa. Presented by Friends of the Museum.

Admission: Free, Food donations welcome
 
Live Nativity Pageant
December 21 & December 22 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The 32nd annual Live Nativity Pageant takes place outdoors at Fairy Lake Park presented by the Town of Newmarket and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A Journey to Bethlehem features a live cast with real animals representing the nativity scene and birth of Jesus Christ as told in the New Testament. Dress warmly as the Pageant takes place outside.

  • Parking at Fairy Lake Park is limited and on a first come, first serve basis
  • Alternate parking options: Riverwalk Commons (200 Doug Duncan Drive)
  • Accessible parking is available at Fairy Lake Park

Tim Hortons First Night Newmarket
December 31 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Celebrate the end of 2019 with us and ring in the New Year. Enjoy an evening of family entertainment capped off with a countdown and amazing fireworks show at 9 p.m.

This event is brought to you in partnership with Tim Hortons.
 
Newmarket Mayor’s New Year’s Levee
Friday, January 10, 2020 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Ring in the New Year with Mayor John Taylor and members of Newmarket’s Council. Enjoy free skating on the Tim Hortons Skating and Water Feature, free hot chocolate, live entertainment and more.
