In this month's The Dispatch: Drs Nick Carleton and Joy MacDermid officially join the Royal Society of Canada. Jennifer Keir successfully completed her PhD qualifying exam. Robin Campbell's doctoral research was spotlighted on Dalhousie News. Fire Service Women Ontario launched a new study on working in Ontario fire services.
Other research highlights included: occupational stress; anxiety and rope rescue training; musculoskeletal injuries; and a new web-based nutrition and fitness program for firefighters.

FSWO Study Seeking Ontario Fire Service Workers (Career or Volunteer) Fire Service Women Ontario has launched the next phase of their research on gender-based barriers in Ontario's fire services. Any level, division, or gender in the Ontario fire service (career or volunteer) is invited to complete a web-based survey on their experiences and opinions on gender and workplace culture.
The study results will be used to build a resource toolkit that will address the recruitment, retention, and promotion of women as effective firefighters in Ontario fire departments.
