Cashmere Weather

In the Northeast, it's that time of year for the semi-annual clothes swap. One must stash away the summer clothes for hibernation and daylight the winter clothes for those chilly and frosty days to come. I have recently returned from a trip to Philadelphia where I was lucky enough to stay with some lovely new friends, Suzanne and Mark, who had just performed that ritual.
Suzanne reported that she loves cashmere sweaters and has stacks of them. One October she reached up for the pile black sweaters and came away with just a sleeve in her hand! It had been amputated by moths. She says over the years and her many cashmere sweaters from a variety of labels, the only the ones that emerge each fall with moth holes are from Banana Republic. She is convinced they 'finish' their cashmere with pheromones in an effort to boost sales each season.
Either that or The City of Brotherly Love should also be called The City of Moth-erly Love...

Come see the new collection of RescueWear including pieced cashmere wraps (moth holes omitted), Barnyard Shibori vests (reclaimed jeans), and reverse applique knit pullovers. As before, all old stock is offered at cost and new items at wholesale. In case you want to sneak in a little sewing yourself, some fabrics will be available at
$2-4/yard.
