Note from our Executive Director

Families for Addiction Recovery (FAR) just mailed a pocket guide on how to treat alcohol use disorder, endorsed by the College of Family Physicians of Canada, to 34,000 family physicians in Canada. We brought experts in CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) from the U.S. to train our 20 parent volunteers. Our parent support program has a waitlist. We continue to address stigma and advocate for evidence-based treatment on demand, more harm reduction services and drug policy reform.

FAR supports parents/caregivers of children struggling with addiction (regardless of age) through our:

One-on-one phone support (Parent-to-Parent or P2P Program)
Parent Support Group

In 2020 we will continue these efforts along with the introduction of educational videos and bringing online support to families.
