WHEN GOD SHOWS UP

We prayed much over the past week with our planned mobile clinic to Kapagu. Torrential rains were making the mountainous trek up to their remote village location very difficult. Our coworkers vehicle equipped with track type tires was the only option to getting our heavy containers of medicine there. They built a log bridge to make that even possible but rain and more rain was dampening our plans. The last attempt failed as deep mud and heavy loads broke TIMS track tires and car. Some enemies of the Gospel proclaimed victory of their witchcraft keeping us away.
“ Ok God, let’s do Mt Carmel again”! And God showed up!! We had totally dry weather starting the morning we had to walk up the mountain until we got down and still needed sun shines. The Kapagu people had to acknowledge the power and blessing of our God.
We treated hundreds of really sick people. We did over 180 blood tests finding approximately 1/3 of those tested were positive for Typhoid. We found alarmingly high incidence of HIV infection too.
All day and through the night and all the next day the Gospel was shared and shown! Loving treatment was given. Desperately needed medicine given for free.
The reality of the fighting was mostly evident in the really sick emaciated kids. Deep ulcers were prevalent as they’ve all been running to hide in the deep jungle leaving their homes for the safety of hidden bush coverings.
While counseling , my son Solomon talked extensively with the men who, as warriors, had killed and chopped to pieces their enemy which in reality were their own blood line. Cousins and uncles and brothers were murdered by these men then their bodies chopped apart. No regret or remorse. Hardened dark hearts. While we were there on Friday the call to war came for men in a neighboring area. They responded with immediate attack. As we walked down the mountain going home that afternoon the cloud of massive smoke evidenced yet another village burned out. More deaths. More hatred piled up upon hatred.
BUT GOD SHOWED UP. His NAME and HIS love were made known. Many spent the two days asking questions and searching and watching. Three were gloriously transformed.
Only transformed hearts will bring peace so desperately needed there.
The day after mobile clinic everyone but Lori gets to rest. The massive stuff taken out to the field has to be put back into place. Lori’s friend we induced and evicted her baby the day before we left was safely home but our L&D area needed to be cleaned and set up for the next sweet one needing to be born. All the supplies brought back needed to be put back into place.
There in the pharmacy area she was able to watch again in awe the God we serve who SHOWED UP in miraculous power. Despite the thousands of dollars spent and hundreds treated , the countless containers of pills and liquids distributed ,our cupboards are still packed full waiting to serve our community as HIS LIGHT!! Not sure HOW but speechlessly in awe of His blessing. Like the widows jar...He keeps us full!!
Many held our hands in prayer and financial support as we climbed our Mount Carmel,called Kapagu. We saw fire SUN from heaven explode down upon us while the powers of darkness ran in fear. VICTORY WAS PROCLAIMED IN HIS NAME.
-pray for the people held captive still by the power of Satan with sorcery and hatred
- pray for the many diagnosed with hiv infection to meet Jesus before they meet death. ( some in their teens and twenties😞).
- pray for baby Grace and baby Safas families to see Jesus as we minister to them through our baby ministry.
- our Gbbc students are done with classes for the year. All fourth year students will have a practical placement to complete before graduation in March. This next week. Bachelors level Educational Psychology Class will be offered to our students and the community in a modular class. . We are praying this evangelistic took of education can bring many to the Savior.
-Lori never wears shoes ( nope truly never👣🌴. Flip flops are how we roll here!) so her feet have really painful and infected blisters after all the muddy walking in shoes. Pray for healing.
- we anticipate a special Thanksgiving celebration here with our team. No Turkey or football but lots of love and thankfulness.
Bill and I share 38 years of dating and life partnership that developed from our Thanksgiving date those many years ago. Each day we have to serve each other and the Lord is a gift for which we are extremely thankful.
We are so thankful for your partnership in our lives and ministry as well.
No restraints. No retreats. Not regrets. Fearless. Faithful. In Awe!!
