Public Speaking Student Katia Makarytchev
Chosen for CBC Radio: Metro Morning!

On October 18th, Brain Power student and aspiring engineer,  Katia Makarytchev, was a selected special guest on Metro Morning! Katia was asked on to talk about her interest in space exploration and the inspiration provided by the historic space-walking tandem of Jessica Meir and Christina Koche. On that day, Meir and Koche performed the first all-female space walk at the International Space Station.

Brain Power's Andrew Zhou
Leads Team to #1 Victory at

USA International Robotics Competition!

This past summer Brain Power student Andrew Zhou created the Toronto Robotics Society, a non-profit organization. Andrew and some of his very experienced robotics colleagues then ran a summer robotics program over the first two weeks of August.

Last month Andrew led his TRS-Nexus Robotics - 905A team (sponsored by Brain Power) to first place in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana for the two-day VEX-EDR Robotics Competition signature event! 

They were the only Canadian team in a field of 60 US teams! Way to represent Canada!

Dr. Karine Rashkovsky
at City MOGULS Charity Event!

On November 7, Brain Power founder and director, Dr. Karine Rashkovsky, attended the City MOGULS charity event. The event raised over $150,000! Proceeds from the event went to support youth at Covenant House Toronto, which works to improve youth's access to primary health care services in addition to mental health and addiction counselling.

Karine was selected by City MOGULS as a leader and entrepreneur on a mission to make an impact and change the ways in which we do business. She is providing solutions to our city’s problems and discovering how to improve the lives of people by creating innovative companies like Brain Power!

Wins Entrepreneur of the Year
at the CSPN Leadership Awards Gala!
Congratulations to Dr. Karine Rashkovsky for winning the 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year at the CSPN Leadership Awards Gala! She shared the stage with impressive winners in other categories - leaders from Microsoft Canada, FedEX, Hyundai Canada, Ontario Public Services, Apotex and more. She was recognized for the customer-centric culture fostered at Brain Power and the incredible line-up of enrichment programming we provide to bright and talented youth from across the GTA (and even out of province!).

Dr. Karine Rashkovsky Keynote Speaker at
the Lassonde School of Engineering! 
On November 8, Dr. Karine Rashkovsky was the keynote speaker at the Best Startup Experience at the  Lassonde School of Engineering at York University. The weekend event was for high-school and university students who are considering an entrepreneurial and/or start-up career. Canada's largest startup workshop, the 36-hour event provided students with an opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship in general as well as in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Nanci has over 15 years of experience as a Psychoeducational Consultant in the public school board.  In this setting, she provides consultation and comprehensive assessment of children/adolescents with diverse needs (e.g. intellectual, academic, social, emotional, behavioural).  
Nanci completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology at the Adler School of Professional Psychology.  She is registered in the area of school psychology with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
