FIRE PREVENTION GRANT PROGRAM, FROM CCI FUNDS AWARDED BY CAL FIRE

OTFSC has been awarded another grant, this one for $278,850.  The focus of this grant will be for fuels reduction for very high/high fire zones.  These hazard severity zones are adjacent to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.  The grant provides help to local homeowners in the target area.  Find out if you qualify.  Also free firewood is available.    read more

The Satellite Fire Detection and Alerting System is a state-of-the-science program that incorporates data from the two new GOES satellites, as well as three polar orbiting satellites, to provide PG&E with advanced warning 24/7 of potential new fire incidents..     Read more

Oak to Tibmberline FireSafe Council is focused on building fire safe communities.   Thus a community Wildfire Prevention Plan (CWPP) is being written, one that identifies areas of danger that will need mitigation.  Community input is important to help us identify areas and get grants. You can join in the effort, CWPP will be part of every newsletter and posted on the website. Look for "Burnie's Nest each month to see our progress and how you can be of help.
