Presentation Night - Sunday Quickfire 9 - Golf Prizes - 50th Anniversary Book - Tee Lotto - Open Monday Comps
Presentation Night

On Saturday the 30th of November the Leonay Golf Club held its annual Presentation Dinner. A great night of food, drink and entertainment was had by all. Former NRL referee Greg McCallum was the guest speaker, and certainly gave some great insight into a largely unknown subject when grilled by Committee President Dave Grosse.

Congratulations to all the winners of the years events. We look forward to seeing everyone there again next year.
SUNDAY QUICKFIRE 9

Come along for an enjoyable 9 hole competition. Better still, bring a friend or family member. No handicap is required and as long as you're an Emu Sports Club social member you can join in the fun.

Contact the Proshop on 47 355 529 to make a booking, or just rock on up on the day.
Golf Prizes

Every now and again the Golfing Gods may smile on us, and we win an event or maybe just a 'Nearest to the Pin'. Part of our competition fees go towards a prize for this. The value of each prize is determined by an official matrix, and is based on the type of event, the day, and the number of players. Visitor and Juniors receive these prizes in the form of vouchers, but members have the prizes added to their membership cards, which they can present for debit when making a purchase either in the Proshop, or at the bar and/or bistro.

Funds on your membership cards can also be accumulated by making purchases at the bar/bistro or by playing the poker machines.

Important information regarding Prizes
  • At the close of each competition, the Proshop sends notification of prizes awarded to ESPC so that the office staff can add these to member's cards. They also keep a copy of this in the Proshop where inquiries can be made.
  • The Proshop also sends this notification to the Committee.
  • These results are then uploaded (usually within a day) onto the website. This way all members can check to see if they (or someone else) have won a prize, and to what value. The below image shows where you can find this by clicking on Competition Results and Prizes at www.leonaygolfclub.com.au. Clicking here will take you straight there now.

  • Members can also check the balance on their card by either inserting it into a poker machine, or by asking one of the EPSC staff to check for them. Additionally, every time a purchase is made, the EPSC staff will advise what is remaining.
  • While it would be nice, the system does not allow for any kind of statement to be automatically issued on either a balance, or what the funds have been spent on. It is up to the individual member to keep track of this.

It's also important to note that these funds will expire if not used. However, unlike the bar/bistro/poker machine accumulated funds which expire at the end of the year, the golf prizes are treated differently. Any prize won prior to July will expire on December 31st, but any prizes awarded after June will not expire until the following year.

See below for more detail on this but, for example, a prize won on June 29th, 2019 will expire on December 31st, 2019, but a prize won on July 2nd, 2019 will not expire until December 31st, 2020. With a minimum of 6 months and anywhere up to 18 months this should be ample time for you to spend your hard earned rewards.
Membership Card - Golf Voucher Expiry

The Club has a policy that every 12 months at the end of December, all members accumulated points are zeroed. To cater for the 6 month expiry of golf member prizes the Club will be doing a manual adjustment of those members who have won points as a Golf Prize in the 6 months (1st July to 31st of December 2019).

Practically, the 6 month expiry condition is difficult to administer as our system does not distinguish between points awarded as a prize and points that a member normally receives through other purchases / promotions in the club.

Initially on the 1st of January 2020 Golf members who have won points during the 6 months (1st July to 31st of December 2019) who swipe their card may have a zero balance.

The process of manually identifying golf prize points not redeemed and then adjusting each members balance does take a few days. Please be patient with us during this period and we will try to complete the process as soon as possible.

Kind Regards

50th Anniversary Books

This year Emu Sports Club along with Leonay Golf Club celebrated its 50th anniversary, and released a special, limited edition book outlining the history of the club. Great stories, fascinating pictures and some interesting information and facts are contained within its pages, and while many members have grabbed one of these, we still have some copies available.

Great for the coffee table or the bookshelf alike.

To secure one of these for only $5.00, please see the Golf Club, a member of the Golf Committee, or the Pro Shop.

Tee Lotto

In previous Tee Lotto sessions, a box of golf balls has been donated by a sponsor, and then the last member to be drawn would win this box. The committee have decided to go down a different track, and at the December Tee Lotto, this box was raffled off. Tickets were sold for $1 each and $196 was raised. This will be donated to a great cause - Ronald McDonald House.

Congratulations to Allan Smith who was the first winner. And a big 'thank you' to all the generous members who got involved, and of course to our sponsors - in this case John Fahey and Nepean Valley Pure Waters, who have been sponsoring Tee Lotto for the last three months and will continue this for the next six months.

Open Monday Comps

While hopefully we'll all be getting some well deserved R&R over the Christmas period, if you happen to find yourself itching for a game on a Monday you'll be able to get one. While Monday competitions are usually only open to Veteran golfers (50 years and older) from Monday the 16th of December to Monday the 27th of January these competitions will be open to all members and visitors.
As this is the final newsletter for 2019, the Leonay Mens and Ladies Golf Committees would like to thank everyone for their support and participation throughout the year, and hope that you all have a safe and happy Christmas.
