BITE Release, New RPGs, Survey Results, and Convention Recap

It's been a busy couple of weeks at Nerdhaus HQ, and we have plenty of exciting news to share with you. First of all, you might have heard from our social media feeds that BITE is finally available for purchase! If you have been a part of the demos and playtests and your friends are tired of hearing about the game that they couldn't play, then now is the time to snap up your own copy and share BITE with your fellow gamers.

It's available in game stores in the Kansas City, MO region (notably TableTop in Overland Park, KS and coming soon to RPG in Lawrence, KS) and directly from us via the Nerdhaus Games website. We currently ship anywhere in the US, and buying directly from us also gets you an exclusive Evil icon button with your purchase.

We're also excited to announce that we were able to deliver the raffle winner's copy during Midwest Gamefest to Jessica Ruby of Sassy Bitch Boutique. Thank you to all of you who entered the raffle!

Crisis & The Good That Zoos Do RPGs

We've also expanded our RPG offerings beyond the free content available at the Nerdhaus downloads page. We've opened an itch.io store and have two complete games available for download: Crisis and The Good That Zoos Do.

Crisis is a storygame system for telling stories racing the clock against disaster, with player-defined story elements taking center stage as everyone trades the GM and player roles throughout the session. It's diceless, zero-prep, designed for one-shot play, and comes with three scenarios in the playtest document. Try it out, provide your feedback, and be a part of making Crisis a stronger game the closer we get to release.

The Good That Zoos Do is about professional monster hunters capturing cryptids for a supernatural zoo, based on the world of the Zoo podcast. Players build their Agents and everyone helps create a unique cryptid for each session by killing or scaring off witnesses during a brief intro scene where we watch the creature in action like the beginning of your favorite monster-of-the-week program. Gameplay uses standard playing cards for resolving conflicts, and setting creation guarantees that no two sessions of Zoos runs the same twice. Cover art is by Angel Andrews.

RPG Setting Survey Results

If you participated in the social media/convention survey about RPG setting development, it was a close race: 1 vote separated Steelheart Skies over Untamed Suburbia, with Running on Empty taking third with about a quarter of the vote. Thank you to the many, many convention attendees who contributed the bulk of the 122 votes we took over the course of the survey. Keep an eye on the website and social media feeds for when new material becomes available for either of the frontrunners (with a distinct possibility that Steelheart Skies will get a Crisis scenario in the next version of the playtest document...)

Midwest Gamefest Recap

We had finished product for sale for the first time, got to meet a number of fans and make new friends across the four days of the convention, and spread the word about Nerdhaus to anyone who stopped to listen. BITE demos, Crisis playtests, and lots of conversations about what folks are looking for from indie designers helped us feel like we're on the right path. If you've played with us before, you know how much fun it can be. If you think the Nerdhaus style of demo, playtest, or workshop is right for your local con, please let us know! We can't guarantee an appearance at everyone's hometown show, but we're always looking for the sorts of places we might be welcome.

Alright, that wraps up this quarter's email! As promised when you signed up for the email list, we take it seriously not to waste your time with emails every time we come up with something. We'll get back to you in the new year with updates on our current games and let you know about when and where we'll be at public events. If you want to keep up on what we're doing in the interim, please consider clicking the social media icons below and following us on your platform of choice. Thanks for reading this far, have a happy holiday of whichever flavor you observe, and as always: Find Your Story.
