Rosh Chodesh Sameach! For the month of Kislev, Rabbi Ruhi Sophia challenges each of us to be a modern Maccabi. Look at our calendars this month and decide that even though it’s difficult to schedule our Jewish lives around the other priorities in our lives, this month we are going to prioritize something Jewish. Eating Animals with Rabbi Jacob Siegel, Wednesdays, December 4 & 11, 6:30 pm at TBI. Want to dive deeper into a conversation about the food that’s on your plate? Rabbi Jacob Siegel will be leading a pair of sessions on the topic, culminating in the screening of the film Eating Animals. To learn more, and to pre-register, click here.
The Bat Mitzvah of Sage Harper will be celebrated Saturday; December 7, at 9:30 am. Sage is a 7th grader at Spencer Butte Middle School. She loves her French bulldog puppy, Fruit Loop. She also enjoys camping, hiking, and biking. She’s both a Girl Scout and a Boy Scout and is very active with her troops. 
 

Chanukah Cabaret Extravaganza! Saturday, December 7, at 7:00 pm at TBI. Back by Popular Demand! TBI’s Sisterhood, Brotherhood and our Queer Chavurah will once again sponsor an evening at the Cabaret! Come for latkes, sufganyot and to marvel at the talents of our incredible TBI family. Additionally, we will be celebrating Sisterhood’s 25th Anniversary! Free and family friendly, And super entertaining. Click here if you would like a ride, can offer a ride to someone in need, or if you need childcare.

In the Bin: Centro Latino Americano Food Pantry: Their mission is to empower Latino families by providing opportunity and building bridges for a stronger community. For December, they are looking for these items: Masa either for tortillas or tamales, cooking oil, dry chilies (any kind), peanut butter, pastas (any kind), tomato sauce, white rice, sugar, and coffee. Seeking hopeful news or wanting to take action on the climate crisis? "Bold Action for Corporate Accountability," a house party for Corporate Accountability's climate justice campaign in Eugene  Thursday, December 5, at 6:30 pm, co-hosted by Shira Rubenstein, Gary Tepfer, and Esther Jacobson-Tepfer. Includes mingling, opportunities for action, hearing from Corinne Jager (Corporate Accountability's Eugene organizer) about the organization's impressive 40 year history and climate justice campaign, and opportunity to support the work financially. A world class musical event on Monday, December 9, at 7:00 pm will feature three MacArthur Fellows, including TBI member Susan Sygall. This will be an artistic night celebrating “tikun olam.” The free event will be at the Shedd, featuring two internationally-recognized musicians, pianist and composer Reginald Robinson and flutist Claire Chase. The Eugene-Springfield Youth Symphony will be performing their winter concert on Wednesday December 11, at 7:30 pm. This year's concert features cellist Sophie Phillips-Meadow performing Max Bruch's Kol Nidrei. Tickets are $10 at the door with proceeds going to the Eugene Springfield Youth Orchestras. The Institute for Judaic Studies Presents the 14th Annual Weekend in Quest. Friends, Foes, Fanatics and Proto-Fascists: The Dreyfus Affair in fin-de-siècle France (1894-1906), with Scholar in Residence: Professor Evlyn Gould of the University of Oregon. March 6-7-8, 2020. Click flyer for details.
