P&Cs need to know...

Tell us about it!

We're always looking to improve on what we do and the help we offer our parent association members, so we'd love to know more about your year with your association - your triumphs and trials, what you loved and what you needed more help with. Our 2019 Member Survey only takes 5-10 minutes to complete but will really help us improve the experience of future volunteers. THANKS!

Your AGM

Now is a good time to start thinking about your AGM, setting the date and getting ready for your end-of-year financial audit.

We have everything you need to get ready for a successful meeting, including templates to make your job easier, and a checklist to tick off as you go.

Fete parking

After several P&C-run fetes were targeted by parking enforcement, we have been talking to the ACT Government about how temporary traffic plans can be used at school fetes. Apparently, earlier this year school principals were informed of processes for temporary parking or traffic changes for large events.

We're looking for a process for applying for these changes that is workable for volunteers because we know that it is volunteers, not principals, that look after this. We'd love to hear your experiences - the types of parking/traffic changes you need for events, and whether you were able to negotiate the planning framework to get it, if you knew about it! Please email us you thoughts!

Council happenings...

AGM - tonight!

Do join us tonight at 7pm at the Centre for Teaching and Learning for our Annual General Meeting where we elect the Council Executive along with parent representatives for a number of roles (nominate here!).

The Meeting will start with a presentation from Katrina Marson, discussing child sex education, wellbeing and awareness in schools. She will discuss aspects of her research, including why comprehensive relationships and sex education is important, and the vital role of teachers and parents in the delivery of that education.

We will also discuss lobbying priorities for the 2020 election, EDU's review of their complaints process, and fetes.
In case you missed it...

Preparing for 2020

Before the end-of-year rush descends on your volunteers, it pays to look ahead to the new year. Make sure your P&C is ready to see out this year and welcome in the new with the essentials outlined in this article.

Learn more: Aboriginal cultures

ABC's new digibook on Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander cultures is a great place to learn more about the cultures, histories, knowledge and resilience of Australia's first peoples. Highly recommended!
