Divine Surprises

Christmas at West Covina Christian Church

Advent Sundays

This Sunday, December 1, we begin the traditional lighting of the advent candles of hope, peace, joy, and love.

Daily Advent Devotionals

Recently, our Orange Family Time traveled to Cal Poly Pomona's Arabian Horse Center and listened to Luke's account of Christ's birth in a stable. Children were able to reflect on the presented scriptures and answer questions posed to them. Their responses were videoed and every question and response from every child was used to compile this year's daily advent readings. Pick up your copy of this year's devotional book, What a Surprise – Found in the Stable!, at the Pretzel Kiosk this Sunday.

Youth and Family Outing: Journey to Bethlehem

The Youth and Family Ministries of the church will be visiting Purpose Church in Pomona to experience their "Journey to Bethlehem" on Saturday, December 14.

Journey to Bethlehem at Purpose Church for a living history event that will give you a glimpse into what life may have been like over 2000 years ago. Sign the census, avoid the Roman soldiers, interact with the potter, weaver, carpenter, and other merchants. Spend some shekels, visit the animals, and make your way under the giant star to discover the new born King, baby Jesus. Parking is free. Food is available for purchase at our Bethlehem café. Enjoy some lentil stew, beef kabobs and citrus punch to experience a taste of the time!

Additional information will be distributed for email, but if you have any questions, contact Children's Ministry Director Nao Kawasaki or Youth Ministry Director Stephen Okamoto.

Christmas Caroling

On Saturday, December 21, and every Christmas season, a group from the church visits individuals in our community's convalescent homes to spread the joy of Christmas through caroling. After visiting the homes, the group returns to church for a light dinner. Additional information will be available shortly, but mark your calendars for the evening of Saturday, December 21.
