Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As a reader of SFEI’s Newsletter, you share my passion for a vital and healthy environment in the San Francisco Bay-Delta region. As 2019 winds down, I want to thank you.

I am grateful for the work you do to ensure the Bay Area's clean water, healthy ecosystems, and resilient communities, and for the strong collaboration we've nurtured together over the years. 

Going forward, it will take all of us and more to ensure that we stay ahead of our challenges. The long-term investments needed to address our regional transportation, housing, and social-equity issues will also require bold action on climate adaptation and resilience.  Our climate solutions must be guided by systems thinking and nature-based processes.

SFEI is providing historic Bay Area leadership on climate adaptation and resilience challenges. We convene and lead collaborative efforts to answer key science questions. We then provide actionable solutions and technical support.  Finally, we empower practitioners with science and technology to enhance effective planning and policies.

Your support enables us to:

• Extend the impact of our work — We will share our landscape-based science frameworks and tools with communities and hundreds of professionals on the frontlines of climate adaptation planning.
• Match restricted grants — We will build on existing foundation and government grants to provide scientific research and technical support to communities that otherwise don’t have access to SFEI’s resources. 
• Maintain data integrity and update tools — SFEI has created a wide range of technology to inform and empower community decision makers and leaders. Your support will enable SFEI to help the region's many leaders to envision bold solutions to climate challenges.
