Dear subscriber,

We are back again! It has been a busy time and that is why we have been so quiet. A lot has happened since the previous newsletter and we are happy to share updates from our projects in Mozambique, Ghana, and Colombia.
And then Christmas is coming!
So, once again, we will be at the Alt-Rixdorfer Christmas Market from the 6th to the 8th of December.

The trip to Mozambique
Back in September Laura and Ivan went to Mozambique as a part of our forthcoming project: a permaculture farm outside of Xai Xai, in the southern part of the country. The project is run by the local organization Fundación Khanimambo. When returning from their trip Laura and Ivan told about their experiences in Mozambique, the new partners, the culture and laying the foundation to make a permaculture farm:

How did the project start?

“The whole idea of getting involved with the Humbi Farm Project started two years ago in 2017 when we got contacted by Khanimambo. They were looking for planning and bio-construction experts and they got in contact with us after learning about our previous experience in Ghana"

Why not another school?

“We don’t want to specialize in one specific type of building. As architects, we can build any kind of infrastructure and we are able to help where it is needed. But because we do not know what is beneficial to the local community and what is not, we always collaborate on projects with local partners, who have a strong background and a solid plan for the project"

Why a farm?

"The main purpose of the farm is to grow food for the Centro Munti - the core project of Khanimambo - a children center that provides for 400 kids and that alone is a good enough reason to do the project. Apart from the children center, supporting a project like this also makes sense to us, because it will be possible to introduce an alternative way of farming to the region and hopefully get some positive impact in that way as well"
Let's talk about the Other Projects

Besides the farm in Mozambique and the already finished school project in Damang, Ghana, WEbuilding is engaged in another school project in Ghana and in two different projects in Colombia:

In Ghana, WEbuilding will once more take part in a school project. This time in Koforidua where a church is currently being used as a school for 70 pupils during the weekdays. The plan is to make six classrooms for students from 1st to 6th grade, to improve the learning environment.

In Colombia, WEbuilding is working on the development plans for two learning institutions, one in Santiago de Putumayo and one in La Ensenada. As in the former project, WEbuilding is collaborating with local partners and organizations to support the local and indigenous communities, to better infrastructure and education.

Christmas Market
Once again, you will be able to visit us at the Alt-Rixdorfer Christmas Market at Richardplatz 76, 12055 Berlin. You can buy snacks, hot chocolate, hot mojito and mulled wine to keep warm! Our team of devoted volunteers have turned fabrics, brought back from Ghana and Mozambique, into colorful rucksacks and handbags. A great idea for your Christmas presents.

The profits from the sale at the market are going solely to new projects, like the ones in Colombia and our already on-going projects, like the one in Mozambique.
Of course, it is always possible to buy WEbuilding's handbags, rucksacks, t-shirts on our Etsy store if you cannot make it to the Christmas Market and are in need of a colorful handbag or have to do some last-minute Christmas shopping.
