Hello Lazies.
On Sunday, the Boston Celtics had won 10 in a row since losing to the 76ers on opening night. They were feeling good but found themselves in their second consecutive West Coast battle against the Sacramento Kings.
The match went back-and-forth the entire night and in the dying seconds of the game, the ball was tossed up by Marcus Smart. The Kings had a 1 point lead and a deadly silence came over the crowd as the ball floated through the air and bounced on the rim. Then, in the blink of an eye, that 10-game winning streak was gone, and the ball decided to bounce out and fall Sacramento’s way. The game finished 100-99.
I hadn’t really noticed the Kings this year but after that thriller, this team ain’t that bad. Their offense was spectacular and the recently signed Buddy Hield was a flamethrower who poured in a season-high 35 points and knocked down seven 3-pointers. But it wasn’t just offense and luck that got Sacramento over the line. They won this game with defense, something head coach Luke Walton has emphasized since the first day of training camp.
The Kings have found some late form, who have only lost twice in their last seven games after going 0-5 to start the season. They have a serious starting-5 to compete in the West, and I can’t see them fading away any time soon.
