Sunset Area Plan: No!

The Alliance for Environmental Leadership is asking all of us to join in the effort to stop this massive carbon-generating, sprawling development.  Hopefully you've contacted your supervisor by now.  The Planning Commission public hearing on this proposal is Thursday, Nov 11 at 10 AM.  Please attend this meeting where you can speak for 3 minutes about the plan.  Bring a short, readable sign as well.  At the Planning Commission Chambers, 3091 County Center Drive, Auburn (map here).  There is now a GoFundMe site here where you can donate to this effort.

Final Banner Campaign of 2019

This Friday we plan to finish up our 2019 season with one more banner display.  After that we will go into seasonal hibernation, to emerge with renewed energy for the 2020 election year!  Because of diminishing daylight, we will move our starting times up to 2:30 at Scott's to make our banners, and 4:00 at the park at Christian Valley Road to organize for the overpasses.

Last week at Dry Creek Road we had a visit from a CHP officer who told us our banner was illegal and we had to take it down.  He could not be dissuaded and the group there felt they had no choice but to comply.  We contacted the local CHP office.  This week we will carry copies of a 2017 letter we received from the Auburn Area CHP commander, affirming our free speech rights.  We might have a response from our latest contact as well.  It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out!  For more info contact Al email frankdu99@yahoo.com at or text 530-305-8258.

Another Success

Pat yourself on the back if you wrote Vote Forward letters to Louisiana.  In spite of Trump's campaigning for the Republican,  Louisiana voters elected a Democratic governor on Saturday.  Stay tuned for more ways to be involved!

Local Notes

Most of you are aware of the effort to get a "Green New Deal" resolution before the Auburn City Council soon.  Here's an article about what happened with a similar effort in Chico:  Forged In Fire: California's Lessons For A Green New Deal.

There's a community meeting on Wednesday, Nov 20th, 6-8:30 PM, at the Auburn Library about a food co-op coming to Auburn.  Read the flyer here.
