Provincial Training Recommendations
Latest Update

High quality research stems from training and a knowledgeable research team. “Each individual involved in conducting a trial should be qualified by education, training, and experience to perform his or her respective task(s).” [ICH GCP E6 (R1) (2.8)]
Provincial Training Recommendations endorsed, by the seven ACRC partner organizations, were updated November 2019 to reflect new and emerging educational offerings and language.

Highlights include:

Addition of courses:
  • Understanding How Medical Devices are Regulated in Canada
  • CIHR-Sex and Gender Training Module

Renaming the Non-Research (QI/Eval) column to Knowledge-Generating Projects to reduce ambiguity of the category title.
Knowledge-Generating Projects: Projects that have the primary purpose to improve practice or service delivery within your organization or setting, is site or program-specific, targets a service (Quality Improvement or Process Improvement); Evaluation; Projects that involve an innovation and/or new methodologies. Examples include: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Real World Evidence (RWE), Machine Learning (ML)

Connect Care launches in Edmonton Zone

After years of planning and preparation Connect Care launched in the small morning hours of November 3. With this first step, more than 20,000 AHS staff and physicians began to use Connect Care’s clinical information system instead of the myriad of health record methods used until now.

The launch is a major milestone not only in the Connect Care program, but also in Alberta health care history. As Dr. Verna Yiu said in her congratulatory email, Connect Care is going to help physicians and clinicians do their best possible work, providing improved quality and safety of care. It’s going to enable Albertans to be at the centre of their healthcare team.
