Hello Everyone!

As the Holiday season quickly approaches we have been reflecting on how grateful we are for each of you. We are continually blown away by the love and support we have seen from the body of Christ as we continue on our journey to the mission field. We count ourselves truly blessed to have each of you in our lives, and we wanted to share another quick update to let you all knowing what the Lord is doing in our lives here at SOAR.
Our flight training continues to go well (even if it’s taking us longer than we had hoped.) Abi has met the last few flight requirements for her commercial pilot’s license, and now only needs to continue preparation specific for the test, involving training for the oral exam and perfecting flight maneuvers. Matt is close behind. Our goal is to have this accomplished by the end of the year, but one thing we've learned with aviation is: you have to be flexible, especially with timelines. We’re both anxious to have our commercial certificate, because it is the last flight rating most missionary aviation agencies require.

We continue to enjoy our maintenance training as well. The hands on learning approach at SOAR fits our learning styles perfectly. We've gotten to work on some really exciting and unique airplanes, including helping with an annual inspection on the first helio courier ever produced (serial number 1!)  While we would both agree flying is more fun than maintenance, it has steadily grown on us.
The support raising process has been more difficult than we anticipated. It has been a humbling position to put ourselves into. But we have been seeing God move clearly through the generous giving of His body of believers, especially in the past few months.  We are about 80% of the way toward reaching our goal with a Jan 1st deadline.  20% seems like a lot to accomplish in the next 6 weeks, but if just 25 people commit to give $25 a month we would pass this goal.

Prayer requests:
  • Safety as we continue working in the shop and flying.
  • That the Lord would continue moving people’s hearts to financial partnership, so we would meet our deadline.
  • Perseverance as we complete our flight training.
We love you all, and are so grateful for each of you, and the love, prayer, and support you have each poured out on us.. We will of course continue to keep you updated as we move toward our different goals.
Love,
Matt & Abi
