Couple of items for this week:
Thursday Workshop
This Thursday is the food photography workshop so please remember to bring along some photogenic food and your camera gear, including a tripod if you have one. You'll probably need some lighting as well - which could be a torch or your flash and a diffuser.
Summer Photography Talk this Thursday
Kim Westerskov is a fulltime nature photographer, writer and photography teacher, based in Tauranga [but with a soft spot for Whangarei ]
This coming Thursday he is giving an illustrated talk [“slide show”] “Adventures in Photography – and Life” at Forum North.
He will present a selection of his finest work from a long and adventurous career, including his time swimming with whales and sharks in the tropics, photographing 'The Perfect Storm' and diving under the sea ice in Antarctica.

You could have a double banger photography evening: Kim's talk at 5.30pm and then the club meeting two hours later.
You need to register beforehand.
Thursday 21 November 2019 at 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Cafler Suite, Forum North, 7 Rust Ave, Whangarei
Cost: Prior registration and gold coin
He is also happy to offer tuition or mentoring to any photographers who are interested. These could be on Friday or - if there was enough interest - he would be happy to stay for the weekend.
Kim has been teaching and mentoring photographers for 12 years, both amateurs and professionals. One professional he has been mentoring for some years, Dunedin’s Derek Morrison, became the 2018 “New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year”. Kim is equally happy teaching or mentoring beginning amateurs – or anyone in between. All that’s needed is an interest in photography.
Costs: Two-hour sessions $150. Half-day [4 hour sessions] $245, Full day [8 hours] $475. He is happy to cover any photographic topics but preferably not just taking the place of the camera manual [that’s what camera manuals are for, them and Googled video tutorials on each camera model].
If anyone is interested, they could meet Kim at the talk on Thursday evening, or text or phone him on 0274-88-3180.
