1.  ‘Emperor’ floorless dive coaster coming to SeaWorld San Diego

California’s first-ever floorless dive coaster, Emperor, will take flight next summer at SeaWorld San Diego.  Speeding at more than 60 miles per hour, this new coaster will be the tallest and fastest floorless dive coaster in the state. Riders will dangle and drop at more than 150 feet before diving 90 degrees into loops – a tribute to the Emperor penguins’ journey from chilly cliffs to the depths of the ocean.

3.  LEGOLAND® New York Resort, Holovis And ETF Ride Systems Reveal The World's First Ride Experience Featuring Technology That Turns Guests Into LEGO® Minifigures!

The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) announced the new slate of TEA Thea Awards recipients – to be formally awarded April 18, 2020 at the 26th annual TEA Thea Awards Gala in Anaheim, presented by Chimelong Group. TEA made the announcement to an international crowd at a press conference during the annual IAAPA Expo in Orlando.

project: syntropy, creator of technology and display solutions for dome cinemas and immersive attractions, and Intamin, the creator of record-breaking amusement rides, have developed a new attraction, the 360 Fly Adventure.

6.  Triotech to revive Knott’s Bear-y Tales for the park’s 100th anniversary

Triotech, the award-winning creator of media-based attractions, has announced that it will be creating Knott’s Berry Farm’s newest attraction, a reimagining of the classic “Bear-y Tales”.

7.  ‘Frozen’ will come to life at Disneyland Paris in 2020 with Frozen Celebration

Fans of all ages will be able to enjoy brand-new offerings inspired by “Frozen” at Disneyland Paris with Frozen Celebration, a new seasonal event.  From Jan. 11 – May 3, 2020, guests can take part in an interactive adventure with Anna and Elsa, meet Olaf and watch “Frozen” characters pass by on a brand-new float.

8.  Top 20 for 2020: Best new attractions coming to theme parks around the world

It already seems as though 2020 is shaping up as a great year for ride enthusiasts around the globe with new theme parks planned for Asia and Europe and several wacky thrill rides in the works.  Consider this a tentative and fluid list of new attractions on tap at international parks (outside the United States). As is often the case, some projects may get delayed while new ones will get announced.

9.  Christie to showcase immersive experiences with latest LED and projection technology at IAAPA Expo 2019

Showcasing immersive experiences designed to inspire attraction designers and theme park operators, Christie will demonstrate the latest LED and projection technologies at IAAPA Expo November 19-22 in Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center.

10.  Parc Spirou expands and announces new products for the 2020 season

By 2020, three new attractions are planned. Among other things, there will be a "sensational attraction" for everyone, two attractions for children and playgrounds. Park Director Daniel Bulliard told the French newspaper "La Provence" . However, the selection of attractions is not yet finalized.

11.  Wu-Tang Clan Could Get Their Own Theme Park

The Wu-Tang Clan is beloved all over the world and it looks like in Korea they could possibly get their own amusement park.  According to an article Mass Live published on Sunday (Nov. 17), Jimmy S. Kang, the vice president of Wu-Tang Management, is negotiating with officials in Seoul, South Korea, to develop a Wu-Tang theme park. There’s no word on when the theme park will be completed.

12.  Super 78 Studios debuts new Moody Gardens show “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”

Super 78, the award-winning attractions design studio, has announced the debut of its new show at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, which uses Microsoft Surface Studio to bring a host of new characters to life.

13.  MIDDLE EAST THEME PARK MARKET TO WITNESS ROBUST EXPANSION BY 2027

The theme park market in the Middle East is to undergo significant expansion by 2027. According to a comprehensive analysis of the Middle East theme park industry, an increasing number of foreign visitors and a number of new theme parks in the pipeline, will foster future growth for the market in the Middle East.

14.  Universal Orlando Resort kicks off holidays with Grinch, parades and more

Universal Orlando Resort is bringing Christmas to Orlando early this year.  The theme park giant's holiday celebrations for the year include parades, nighttime shows and, of course, that mean-one-turned-lovable-stinker The Grinch. The holiday festivities at Universal run from Nov. 16-Jan. 5 across the resort with unique offerings at various spots.

15.  New “Cinderella” 70th Anniversary Character Meet and Greet, Specialty Food Items, and Prince Charming Regal Carousel Access Added to Disney Early Morning Magic at the Magic Kingdom for Limited Time

To commemorate the platinum 70th anniversary of Walt Disney’s classic “Cinderella”, Disney Early Morning Magic at Magic Kingdom Park will receive a royal treatment perfect for princesses and princes of all ages!  For eight magical event dates February 11, 2020 through March 3 2020, guests who reserve will enjoy early access to Prince Charming Regal Carousel in addition to other favorite attractions throughout Fantasyland.

16.  Carowinds Opens Doors to Onsite SpringHill Suites Charlotte

For the first time, Carowinds guests have the option to stay overnight right at the park. The 130-suite SpringHill Suites Charlotte at Carowinds welcomes its first guests beginning November 19, 2019. The hotel is located just steps from Carowinds theme park, offering guests convenient access to the 400-acre park, which features more than 60 rides and attractions and an expansive water park. The hotel will be open 365 days a year.

17.  Currys Amusements Interested In Purchasing Barry’s

Currys Amusements who operate Currys Funpark at Leisureland Salthill Galway and also play a huge roll in Ireland largest travelling theme park has expressed interest in purchasing Barry’s amusements if ‘the price is right’.

Let’s take the plunge into the history of water rides!  Have you ever wonder how the earliest boat rides evolved into classics like Splash Mountain and it’s a small world?  Attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean didn’t just spring up overnight. 19.  Kings Island's WinterFest returns Friday with 10 winter wonderlands, 5 million lights

Kings Island's WinterFest returns Friday for the season.   The Mason amusement park will be lit up with more than five million holiday lights, will feature 10 winter wonderlands, 16 live shows, up to 19 rides and one magical Christmas tree – the 314-foot tall Eiffel Tower.

20.  Bob cart from the Efteling sold for thousands of euros

An original cart from the Bob from Efteling goes for thousands of euros to a fan. Due to the closure of the bob track, one of the vehicles was auctioned last summer via Marktplaats . Roy Verstegen from the village of Nuland in Brabant came out as the highest bidder. He counts 6500 euros for the bobsleigh. The amount goes to the charity.

1.  West Midtown lands first U.S. location of mini golf concept Puttshack

An entertainment concept out of London that blends mini golf with dining will bring its first U.S. location to West Midtown.  Puttshack, dubbed an “upscale, tech-infused mini golf experience,” will join The Interlock, a $450 million project rising at 14th Street and Howell Mill Road.

2.  Dallas’ WFAA Kids TV Studio A Part Of KidZania

Kids will have a first-hand opportunity to experience a little bit of what goes into a career in broadcasting and broadcast journalism in the soon to be opened KidZania.  KidZania is a 85,000-square-foot indoor space that will open at the Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, Texas, designed to give children a look at a wide variety of different professions. This is the first KidZania taking place in the U.S.; it has previously been held multiple times across the globe.

3.  Free Play Florida returns for another year of celebrating gaming

Florida’s arcade and pinball expo, Free Play Florida, is back once again to celebrate the love of all things gaming.  The three-day family-friendly event will take place from Nov. 22-24 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Fla. Attendees will have the chance to play games, attend panels, compete in tournaments, shop the vendor tables, and hang out at the After Party.

4.  Zayed National Museum opening in Abu Dhabi in 2021

The Zayed National Museum is set to open in 2021, with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi now confirming that construction is underway in the Saadiyat Island Cultural District on Saadiyat Island.

5.  LEGO-THEMED TOILET NAMED MOST BEAUTIFUL RESTROOM IN SHANGHAI

A public toilet for parents with young children in Shanghai’s LEGOLAND Discovery Center was declared one of the city’s 20 most beautiful toilets on Tuesday, the seventh World Toilet Day.  Each stall door in the toilet is decorated with a picture of a LEGO character, such as a police officer, cowboy and robot, with LEGO-themed music playing.

6.  Virtual Reality World Galway - Irelands largest Virtual Reality Entertainment Centre.

With the help of computer technology, VR – short for Virtual Reality, is an immersive experience in which users are teleported into a 3D World. VR will make you feel like you are there mentally and physically. You turn, your head and the world turns with you so the illusion created by whatever world you are in is never lost. 

7.  Year-round Crush Golf driving range, AirCity360 fun center coming to Colorado Springs

A Topgolf-like venue is poised to tee off in 2020 on Colorado Springs’ fast-growing north side.  Crush Golf, a state-of-the-art, year-round driving range with dining and meeting facilities for golfers, families and corporate gatherings, will open next summer at the Polaris Pointe retail complex southeast of Interstate 25 and North Gate Boulevard.

8.  First in Texas Trampoline Park to Open in San Angelo Just Before Christmas

A new attraction for kids and parents alike is coming to San Angelo off the Loop 306 access road just behind Lowe's building supplies that is located on Sherwood Way at the Loop.  Ultimate Air Trampoline Park, a business that provides exactly what it seems, is currently under construction with the hopes of being open just in time for Christmas break this December. 

9.  Zip line to cross Ottawa River

A new tourist attraction coming to the capital region is promising to give the paying public a unique view of the Ottawa River.  Branding and marketing agency Orkestra says a new interprovincial zip line is expected to be up and running by next summer.

10.  C+ Architects' LAB Art Museum is a glowing ring in the mountains

C+ Architects have created art gallery in Wulong, China, that is designed to look like a glowing ring in the mountains.  The LAB Art Museum is set on a 3,000sq m (32,300sq ft) hilltop site that at times is surrounded by clouds.

11.  Baltimore Museum Of Art Will Only Buy Works By Women Next Year

Step into one of the nation's top art museums, and most of the works you'll see were made by men.  The Baltimore Museum of Art has decided to make a bold step to correct that imbalance: next year, the museum will only purchase works made by female-identifying artists.

12.  Vision for Armenian American Museum exhibition takes shape

A vision underpinning downtown Glendale’s forthcoming Armenian American Museum is beginning to emerge.  Telling the story of the Armenian Genocide will be a central aspect of the museum’s main exhibition. Conveying the millennia-long history of the Armenian people before and after the genocide will be another.

IAAPA Expo 2019 is underway in Orlando, and our intrepid reporters noticed that ProSlide, makers of Summit Plummet and Teamboat Springs, casually announced a new attraction could be coming to Disney’s Blizzard Beach.

2.  Europa-Park does not have to completely decorate a new water park with a clever trick

Thanks to a trick, Europa-Park does not have to dress a new water park from head to toe. The indoor swimming paradise Rulantica revolves around a mysterious island of the same name, but according to the background story, bathers will never enter the island itself. The swimming complex is set up as an exhibition with the remains of Rulantica.

3.  New Carnival cruise ship Mardi Gras will have a two-deck ‘playground’ with rollercoaster and water park

CARNIVAL Cruises have released new details of their long awaited cruise ship, Mardi Gras.  The cruise giant revealed last year that it will feature the world's first rollercoaster at sea but now we know there will be a massive water park on board as well.

4.  UPDATED DESIGNS FOR £42M SWIMMING POOL COMPLEX APPROVED

Updated designs for a £42m swimming pool complex in Derby have been signed off by the city council.  The Moorways plans, which were submitted during the summer, have been extended to include a water park and now feature two four-storey flumes, England’s first wave generating wow ball and the first wave rider slide of its type.

1.  Child, not grizzly bears, cracked glass window at Oakland Zoo, officials say

A child, not the grizzly bears, cracked a glass viewing window at the Oakland Zoo’s bear exhibit, and officials say there’s no need to fear the bears will get out.  Oakland Zoo spokeswoman Erin Harrison said in a statement Tuesday that a child hit a rock against the glass several times, “shattering the laminate layer.”

2.  Louisville Zoo will host one of the nation's largest lantern festivals next year

You'll have the chance to see the Louisville Zoo in a whole new light next year.  The zoo announced Tuesday that it will host one of the largest Chinese lantern festivals in the nation next year, called "Wild Lights: Asian Lantern Festival."

3.  Sneak Peek At Woodbridge Center Mall Aquarium

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — On Monday morning, Patch was taken on a behind-the-scenes sneak peek tour of the new SeaQuest aquarium, scheduled to open Saturday at the Woodbridge Center Mall. We also interviewed the aquarium's owner and CEO, Vince Covino, and he addressed some of the controversy that has popped up at his other aquariums across the country, most of them located inside malls or other shopping complexes.

4.  Bei Bei lands safely in China after Tuesday departure, National Zoo says

The National Zoo sent Bei Bei to his permanent home in China Tuesday. The popular panda left Dulles International Airport around noon, as precious cargo on a FedEx plane dubbed the “Panda Express.”  That plane has landed safely in China, the zoo announced Wednesday morning around 6 a.m.

5.  Jaguar cubs’ names revealed ahead of their public debut at Memphis Zoo

 Two jaguar cubs are making their public debut Wednesday at the Memphis Zoo and we have finally learned their names.  Memphis Zoo hosted a naming contest with name options of Gigi and Izzy, Vida and Frida, and Lulu and Bella. The results are in and the cubs are now known as Lulu and Bella!

6.  First gorilla born at Jersey zoo in seven years

A zoo has welcomed its first baby gorilla to be born at the park in seven years.  The west lowlands gorilla was born at Jersey zoo during the early hours of 15 November to 25-year-old mother Bahasha.  The newborn has not yet been given a name and its gender is still to be identified.

7.  Zoo raises $13,500 for rare Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in Indonesia

The Buffalo Zoo took part in a worldwide effort to save an endangered species of Sumatran Rhinos by raising $13,500 to dig a natural well  in Indonesia.  The well, located in the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in the heart of Way Kambas National Park on the island of Sumatra, will provide water for the rhinos and staff as well as a fire suppression system, said Norah Fletchall, zoo president and CEO.

8.  San Diego Zoo Launches Kids Channel in Sydney, Australia

The San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Global has launched its San Diego Zoo Kids television channel at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney.  According to a press release, the closed-circuit adventure channel, funded by local businessman and philanthropist T. Denny Sanford, includes programs primarily produced for medical facilities, specifically pediatric patients. It offers family-friendly, animal-oriented stories that are “both entertaining and educational.”

9.  Tennessee Aquarium leads effort to develop interactive map of world's turtle communities

In the midst of what has been called the planet’s sixth mass extinction, many scientists describe the rate of species loss on earth as having reached crisis levels.  Faced with the epic challenge to halt, or at least slow, the disappearance of species, conservationists must make the best use of every dollar and minute of time. To do this, conservation efforts are often focused on biodiversity “hotspots,” a method that has proven effective in targeting species-rich, at-risk regions.

10.  The Paris Aquarium Is Giving Unwanted Goldfish a Second Chance

Lurking in the depths of a 40,000-liter fish tank within the Paris Aquarium in Paris, France, is an unlikely sight—one that many visitors might be surprised to see. The freshwater tank is just one of several that house the aquarium’s growing population of goldfish. Over the past few years, the aquarium has become a refuge for unwanted goldfish, to the extent that rarely a day goes by without a local resident dropping off an unwanted pet. At last count, the aquarium has more than 1,000 goldfish, 600 of which are rescues, and that number continues to grow.

The cruise industry’s largest companies are extending their ties with the Caribbean, already their primary deployment region, with projects to build and expand several private islands and exclusive visitor “destinations” that will roll out across the Bahamas and other Caribbean countries in the next few years.

3.  Norwegian Cruise Line follows the money with itinerary optimization

Last winter, the Norwegian Spirit did 11-day runs from Barcelona to the Canary Islands and back, a traditional warm-weather cruise in Europe's colder months.  But on a recent conference call, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO Frank Del Rio described it as "one of the historically lowest-yielding areas" to sail.

WEEKI WACHEE, Fla. — A day after Hernando County's legislative delegation voted unanimously to pursue disbanding the city of Weeki Wachee, some in the city expressed concern about the effect that legislative move could have on area tourism.

Little creatures are popping up on the streets of downtown Fayetteville, W.Va. People might find them hiding in trees, behind bushes, on benches or even inside local shops.
