Hi <<First Name>>,

T-minus eight days to Turkey Day! Every family has their go-to traditional recipes for Thanksgiving … the perfect way to prepare the turkey, the key to creamy mashed potatoes and the best secret ingredient in the beloved stuffing. We all have a favorite dish we look forward to all year long!

But here’s a stat that might surprise you. A majority of Americans say they actually like leftovers better than the holiday meal itself! In this week’s newsletter, we’re showing a little love for the day after Thanksgiving. Today, we’re talking leftovers!

Holiday Inspired Cobb Salad: Let’s face it ... Thanksgiving dinner is a heavy meal – and it ain’t always the healthiest. This Holiday Inspired Cobb Salad brings a lighter twist to classic Thanksgiving flavors. Just don’t skimp on the butternut squash!
Turkey Pot Pie: Carrots, Brussels sprouts, celery and all other veggies are welcome in this pot pie, which is like Thanksgiving dinner in a single, simple dish. *Hint: Store-bought puffed pastry is perfect for that one day a year you’re tired of cooking!
Turkey Salad Sandwiches: Here's the sandwich with the greatest leftover legacy in history. Cranberry sauce and good bread are the secret ingredients to this great leftover lunch or brunch scene stealer!

Voila! Three can’t-miss recipes that keep the deliciousness going after Thanksgiving. And now we’re going to turn it over to an Olivia’s fan with an inspirational outlook this holiday season! Let’s hear it for Maria!
Meet Maria!
Philadelphia native, fashionista and philanthropic Temple University student living a vegetarian lifestyle
At Olivia’s we love giving back, not only during the holidays but all year round! We heard you’re involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! Can you tell us a bit more?
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of my sorority’s – Delta Phi Epsilon – philanthropic partners. The goal of the CFF is to find a cure for cystic fibrosis, which is a disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. The cause is not government funded, so the money my organization raises makes a massive impact.

That’s so cool! Your organization just held the Annual Deepher Dude Pageant too, right? How did that go?
It was great! Each year we have our male pageant, in which men from all different organizations across campus compete to win the title of Deepher Dude. All the funds from the event go to the CFF. This year not only did I contribute to fundraising, but also designed what we sold leading up to the event. We raised over $40,000 this year, surpassing our total last year, which was $37,000.

Shifting gears here, but we heard you’re also committed to a vegetarian lifestyle. What does being vegetarian mean to you?
I’ve been a vegetarian for almost three years now. A vegetarian diet has proven health benefits and it also helps reduce pollution and save animals. I value health and wellness, so being vegetarian has become a very important aspect of my life.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Do you have any go-to recipes or traditions for Turkey Day?
My mom and I make a cheese board together every year, which my family has as an appetizer before our Thanksgiving dinner! We also make butternut squash soup, one of my favorite dishes during the colder months. My parents and I always watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV in the morning.

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
This year I am thankful to be able to spend time with my family and friends. As a college student, life can often get busy and overwhelming. I am grateful for the break I get to take from schoolwork to spend quality time with those I love.

Anything else to add?
This Thanksgiving, I’m looking forward to spending time with my loved ones and enjoying healthy and delicious food!

Thanks so much, Maria!
