Lets Talk: About Moving and Our New Conference Office
By Associate Conference Minister Daniel Ross-Jones

As many of you know by now, your Conference staff is once again on the move. We learned a few months ago that the lease for the Conference House, our beloved ministry home for the past two years, was not being renewed. Moving is never a simple task. Finding a space that works for our evolving ministry needs was only one part of moving, and it will come as a surprise to no one who has moved in the past few years that aligning price, space, value, and amenities within our Bay Area geography was a daunting proposition.

For those of you keeping track at home, this is our third move in five years. We outgrew our space in Hayward upon the addition of Rev. Davena Jones and myself as Associate Conference Ministers in 2015-2016, and then chose not to renew our lease on Roland Way in Oakland after finding the space to be inadequate to our needs.

Thankfully, our search is complete! Last week your Conference staff got to tour our new office home in Concord. This is a very different arrangement for our Conference than what we have had in the past, and I'm thrilled to tell you a little bit about it. Click

The NCNC Staff needs your help! We are asking for volunteers to help prepare for the move to Concord. Since we are transitioning into electronic record keeping, there are documents that need to be scanned starting now until the end of December. This will help lighten the load and prevent anything from getting lost or damaged during the move. We also ask for volunteers to help load boxes and furniture into our storage pod from December 11 - 20th, and unload boxes from the storage pod at our new location on January 2, 2020. Please give us a call at 510-247-8990 or just stop by the office 16190 Foothill Blvd., San Leandro, if you are able to volunteer. We truly appreciate all the help as we get ready for the big move!

UCC Webinar: "Solar Power 101: A Webinar for Faith Communities"
Brought to you by: Interfaith Power and Light and The Peoples Justice Council

Does your faith community have soul-ar power? For faith communities, solar power can mean putting panels on a roof, but it can also mean much more. The pursuit of solar power can also be a way to serve the community and advocate for a more just society. In this area, Solar United Neighbors has done ground-breaking work that has been replicated all over the country. Anya Schoolman is their founder and executive director. For her accomplishments, she was honored by the White House in 2014 as a Champion of Change. In this webinar, she will cover three critical areas for faith communities interested in solar power: practical tips for going solar, solar co-ops as a way to lower costs for faith communities and neighborhood residents, and how faith communities can advocate for energy democracy and equity. The webinar will be on December 5th, but register even if you can't make it in order to receive a link to the video late. Click
