Public Invited to Program Celebrating 100 Years of Votes for Women at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum
BISMARCK, N.D. – The public is invited to “Celebrating 100 Years of Votes for Women” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. The free one-hour program will include historic speeches, woman suffrage songs, and a historic reenactment. Presenters include Susan Wefald, Barbara Handy-Marchello, Kris Kitko, Bethany Andreasen, Deb Rogers, Brittany Bearsheart, and Supreme Court Justice Lisa McEvers.
The program is part of an afternoon of family-friendly activities hosted by the North Dakota Woman Suffrage Centennial Committee from 1-4:30 p.m. Visitors can also attend a cartooning workshop with Jess Rockeman from 1-2 p.m., view the film “One Woman, One Vote” in the Great Plains Theater at 3:15 p.m., and participate in a children’s voting booth, art activities, games, and a tea party. All events are free and open to the public.
This program is a partnership between the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the North Dakota Woman Suffrage Centennial Committee. It is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota's Sensational Sundays series.
