1st Reconciliation Family Meeting

  • THIS Sunday, November 24th from 5:30 - 7pm in the church.  (It's possible that we'll end earlier, but plan for that)
  • Parent(s) and child receiving the sacrament need to attend (only one parent needs to attend, but both are welcome to come)
  • We'll run through some basics about the sacrament, along with logistics for the day of, and give tours of the confessionals to help calm any nerves.
  • Bring the mini "My Own Reconciliation Booklet"
  • No need to bring workbooks
  • Make up session: Wednesday, December 4th at 5:30pm in the church.  (THIS IS ONLY IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THE SUNDAY MEETING OR IF YOU'D MISS PART OF IT.)
Students still have class that morning.

Please let me know if for some reason you cannot attend the actual Reconciliation service on Saturday, December 7th at 10am.
Please check out the promo below. It's for a program called FORGIVEN on FORMED and it's all about the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  I strongly encourage you, as parents, to watch the program (each of the 5 episodes are about 30 minutes) before your child receives the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Also, there's an episode for children on how to make a good confession. It'd be great to watch that with your child before December 8th, to facilitate a conversation with them about the Sacrament and reinforce the idea that it's not just a one-time event.
Reconciliation Snowflakes
A reminder for your child to turn in their snowflake either during class on Sunday or at the meeting that night.  Here are the instructions again.  Please bring them either Sunday morning to class or Sunday evening to the family meeting.

Thoroughly wash away my guilt, and from my sin cleanse me...and I will be whiter than snow. - Psalm 51:4, 9

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is meant to take our souls back to the original state of our Baptism - as white and clean as freshly fallen snow.  To help reinforce this idea, we're going to make a bulletin board featuring their very own snowflake art!  Please explain this concept to them and then make a snowflake which we can hang on the bulletin board.

Please note: I recognize that a few students never received their snowflake info sheet, due to not being in calss or various other reasons.  I have mailed those, so you should be receiving it this week.  You can either wait to receive those or simply do the activity on your own.  The instructions are above and each child was simply given a 6"x6" square to create a snowflake.
