CTI and ISPN launch tender process to support Territorial and Environmental Management in Eastern Amazon Indigenous Lands – The Indigenist Work Center (CTI) and the Society, Population and Nature Institute (ISPN) issued a call for projects focused on Territorial and Environmental Management in Eastern Amazon Indigenous Lands, under a wider project supported by the PCAB. The call is intended for indigenous, indigenist and socio-environmental associations, preferably working with indigenous peoples in Maranhão and northern Tocantins. The call will remain open until January 10, 2020.
Pará state quilombola communities validate Life Plans – On September and October, quilombola territories
Ariramba, Cachoeira da Porteira and Mãe Domingas – Área Alto Trombetas I approved their Life Plans and started Quilombola Fund implementation, a territorial management instrument and financial governance mechanism created through a partnership between the Association of Remaining Quilombo Communities of the Municipality of Oriximiná (ARQMO), local land associations and the
Sustainable Territories Program (quilombola team). The STP is a program developed by the Amazon Conservation Team (ECAM).
New enterprizes join the Partnership Platform for the Amazon - During September and October,
Fundação Certi, Centro de Empreendedorismo da Amazônia, BH26, Tucum,
Forest Trends, Alcoa and Nelson Willians Advogados joined the PPA, bringing more technology, innovation and investment expertise to the initiative.
Learn about the project UTSAMÃNERY KIMAPURI SARI KAI XITY (in English: "People on the Way to the Sacred Land"), conducted by the Apurinan and Jamamadi Indigenous Peoples Organization (OPIAJ) in partnership with the Brazilian Education Institute (IEB) and the Native Amazon Operation (OPAN). The association manages the project with its own resources, raised through a Small Grants Fund for the implementation of the National Policy for the Land and Environmental Management of Indigenous Lands (PNGATI).
