NCCF Open House

Celebrating Community Foundation Week and Fall Grant Recipients

We celebrated Community Foundation Week and National Philanthropy Day at an Open House on Friday, November 15, 2019. The public was invited to celebrate with our board members, staff, and volunteers at the Fredonia Technology Incubator with a light lunch and entertainment.

It was a pleasure to meet with members of our nonprofit organizations and members of the community! The Grants Committee and Board members enjoyed personally presenting the Community Grants Program award checks to 13 organizations totaling $88,628 (see the list in the October Newsletter).

Special recognition was given to the Forestville volunteers for their philanthropic efforts in 2019. Imagine Forestville/Town of Hanover received a Community Grants Program grant for a Forestville Historical Home StudyImagine Forestville received a Community Pride grant for the Forestville Walking Trail, and Forestville Central School received six Service Learning Mini-Grants. Imagine Forestville also participated in the BLOOM Community Garden Recognition Project.

Community Foundation Week is not about celebrating us as we can only succeed when people like you care about our community, both now and into the future. We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to our success.

Every year NCCF partners with local youth organizations and schools to thank local veterans on Veterans Day. Students decorate the cards and include messages thanking local military men and women for their sacrifice. The cards are mailed out using NCCF's ever-growing mailing list.

Cassadaga Valley Central School Key Club and the Student Council provided the personal messages in this year's cards. A total of 108 cards were mailed to local veterans. THANK YOU!

NCCF salutes and gives thanks to all our veterans, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

End-of-Year Charitable Contributions

IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are age 70-½ or older, you may be able to take advantage of an essential charitable giving incentive - the IRA Charitable Rollover. Congress has made it law that individuals can make gifts of up to $100,000 per year from their IRA accounts to charity without first incurring income tax on the withdrawal. The IRA Rollover might provide you with an excellent opportunity to make a gift during your lifetime from an asset that would be subject to multiple levels of taxation if it remained in your taxable estate. Consult your financial advisor for further information on how this applies to you.

Year-End Giving

Help us help our community; please consider a year-end gift to the NCCF. A contribution to one of our funds this year would bring to life significant community projects in future years. Your year-end generosity also pays off at tax time. Donations to NCCF are tax-deductible as per IRS guidelines.

Visit our Year-End Giving Page.
