Dealbhan bhon t-samhradh | Pictures from the summer

These come to us from a particpant in Angus MacLeod's Gaelic immersion classes this past summer. Looks like a good time! Here's what they had to say about the piece of cloth they milled:
Bha mi anns a' churs Gàidhlig aig an taigh Aonghais MacLeòid.  Bha fior luadh againn.
1. First a woman in the course made her own cloth on a loom.
2. Then we soaked it in water.
3. After letting much of the water in it drip out, we brought the cloth inside and set it on a milling table.
4.  We sang about 17 songs to complete the fulling process.
5.  Next day, we laid it out in the sun on the same table.

Bha an tachaartas miorbhaileach, 's bha aoighean Gàidhlig air tighinn a-steach don tachartas.

SPECIALTALKS/EVENTS/UPDATES

Cèilidh-Taighe- Nov. 22

Margie Beaton is hosting a cèilidh at her home in Southwest Mabou on November 22. All are welcome, only Gaelic will be spoken.
From our friends at Colaisde na Gàidhlig | The Gaelic College:
Some recent chats on cultural necessities and goals for the coming winter lead to a fresh idea we'd like to try out - taking the Céilidh Pledge! We're talking the true meaning of the Gaelic word too - the visit! There's just nothing better, and it's long been pivotal to how we share our cultural values with one another. The world seems to get busier and busier, but we can't lose sight of how much we need to keep this way of life up and thriving. So we put out this challenge! Share this wee badge, set your mind to it, and carve out time this fall/winter/spring to visit. Maybe it's with a neighbour or friend (only takes two to make a ceilidh) or maybe it's hosting/attending a big ol' house party! Stay in the moment and enjoy, or post to remind the rest of how much fun it is. Include the hashtag
#ceilidhpledge too! Then tag a pal and challenge someone else. Think of all the tunes, talk, and tea, Gaelic and gab, stories and laughs that are just waiting for us! Here's to a dandy winter ahead. An tig sibh air céilidh? Will you make a visit?
