What a wonderous affair we get to participate in every week and to have the opportunity to take a moment to stop and thank the ones that help make beautiful things happen for a community, feels like quite the honor. This past weekend we were able to take some time to celebrate what matters most to us in the world…..people and music.
Friday night we celebrated 35 years of the Friday Night Jamboree with the ones that started it all. Freeman Cockram began the Jamboree in 1984 when the store was named Crockram’s General Store, alongside his band mates Ross Peacemaker and Garland Finn. We greatly enjoyed getting to spend time with Freeman, hearing the stories and seeing the pictures of the long history of the Friday Night Jamboree. Freeman, Ross and Garland all joined us for a few sets of music on Friday and Saturday. We are so honored to be continuing this weekly tradition, and delighted to see how important the Jamboree is to so many people.
To add to the weekend of celebration, we had the privilege to host the 90th birthday party for the Queen of Banjo herself, Rhoda Kemp. We are so thankful for all these wonderful people and the wonderful music and with Thanksgiving right around the corner, and are taking time to reflect on what’s really important to us….YOU! Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of our Floyd Country Store family. We wish you all a safe and loving Thanksgiving.
