When we met 37 years ago, we had no idea what the Lord had in store for us. We have trusted him until today and we can trust him tomorrow.
Open-heart surgery tomorrow

Friday morning at 5:00 eastern time, I'll be checking in for open-heart surgery to repair my leaky mitral valve. I'll be just one floor above where my mom has been since Tuesday, being checked out for a mystery bleed in her GI tract.

As of tomorrow, Bonnie will be caring for me and my mom, plus her parents and her two brothers. Our daughter, Brianna, and her family are scheduled to come on Monday for Thanksgiving and to help with care-giving. I may be coming home on Tuesday if all goes according to the surgeon's plan.

Please pray for all of us, and let us know how we can pray for you.

Serving our King together,
John (& for Bonnie)

Praise and Prayer

Please pray for skill and wisdom for my surgeon, for mom's many doctors, and a quick recovery for both of us.

Pray for Bonnie as she will have so many people to care for as I recover.

Pray for the translators, who are polishing Philippians and several chapters of John this month.

Praise the Lord with us for more progress on building our partnership team. Our monthly gap is now down to less than $700.

What we do
Since 1987 we have been training local Papua New Guinean church leaders to translate the Bible into their own languages and coaching them through the process from first draft to publication.

We currently serve in the Aitape West Translation Project, which is producing and distributing Bible translations in 11 languages in print, electronic, audio, and video form; training local people to use the translations; and training the local translators to help other translators do the same in still more languages.

We have written about how a tsunami changed the face of Bible translation in Papua New Guinea in our bookSleeping Coconuts. It is available here on Kindle or here in paperback.
